Garrett County and Deep Creek Lake
Maryland's Four-Season Recreation Area

Garrett County is Maryland's westernmost county. Established in 1872, the County was named for John Work Garrett, the president of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad. Considered Maryland's mountain-top playground, the County consists of parks, lakes, and publicly-owned forest land.

Deep Creek Lake, Maryland's largest inland body of water, is the focus of the County's recreation industry. The lake, which covers almost 4,000 acres, is a favorite getaway for summer travelers. The Wisp Ski Resort on the shores of Deep Creek Lake is a popular attraction for winter travelers. Although best known for Deep Creek Lake and the Wisp, Garrett County offers so much more: hunting, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, skiing, horseback riding, and backpacking .

In the center of all this natural beauty lies Garrett College overlooking Deep Creek Lake and the Wisp Ski Area. Garrett offers quality and affordable education. We invite you to visit our community and our campus. Call 1-301-387-3010 to arrange a campus tour.
