Certificate Programs
Students who are looking for immediate entry into the job market may enroll in certificate programs to obtain skills which will assist them in a specific employment field.

Adventure Sports
This certificate is designed to concentrate on the course contained in the A.A.S. degree in Adventure Supports that are more closely aligned with the adventure sports industry and its needs. This option is generally attractive to an individual who has already attained a college degree in some other field. and wants to acquire adventure sports industry related training or to and individual who is not able to or does not wish to invest the time required to attain the A.A.S. degree.

Business and Information Technologies
Students have three options within this certificate: Business Management, Computer Applications for Business, and Computer Information Technologies.

Business Management Option
Entry level management skills are acquired through completion of the courses in this certificate program. Courses may be applied to requirements in the A.A.S. Business Management program if the student decides to pursue an Associate's degree.

Computer Applications for Business Option
This progarm is designed to prepare students to meet the demand for trained computer personnel in the world of business. This certificate program will help students become prepared to work for a business or to use the skills in their owwn business. Many of the program requiremants may not be transferable and may not count toward a Bachelor's degree.

Computer Information Technologies Option
This program is designed to help meet the growing demand for trained information technology personnel.
Graduates of the program may complete a practicum experience in their program concentration.

The program offers concentrations in the following: Internet Specialist, Network Administration, Repair/Network Technician, and Cybersecurity.

Microsoft Office Certification Program
To earn a globally recognized Microsoft Office Specialist certification for Microsoft Office, a candidate must pass one or more of the certification exams. Office Specialist exams provide a valid and reliable measure of technical proficiency and expertise by evaluating overall comprehension of Office applications, ability to use their advanced features, and ability to integrate the Office applications with other software applications. Core and Expert certifications are currently available for Office XP. Earning a Microsoft Office Specialist certificate proves a level of proficiency in an Office application and provides a current or potential employer evidence of skills. Garrett College also offers applications courses that help to prepare a 4 candidate for Microsoft Office Specialist certification.

Commercial Vehicle Transportation Specialist
This certificate offers a professional truck driving curriculum for the purpose of qualifying students for entry level positions as drivers in over-the-road or local driving vehicles. The curriculum provides information about trucks, truck driving and the trucking industry, and the fundamentals of operating trucks and tractor trailers. No prior education or experience with trucks is required. The student, however, must meet the driver qualifications set forth by the Bureau of Motor Carrier Safety and pass the physical examination requirements established by the Department of Transportation (D.O.T.).

Juvenile Justice
A certificate in Juvenile Justice introduces students to the skills and training required to gain an entry level position with the Department of Juvenile Justice working with youth in a residential facility.

Nursing Program Articulation
Students who are interested in pursuing an Associate in Arts degree in Nursing at Allegany College may complete 31 credit hours of required course work at Garrett College.  An articulated nursing transfer program has been developed with Allegany College, and interested students should contact the Admissions Office at Garrett College for more information.
