Four Lakers Grab Regional All Tournament Honors

Sophomore Amber Smith (Morgantown, WV) and Freshman Anamaria Skaro (Split, Croatia) were named to the NJCAA Region XX all - tournament team for the Lady Lakers who finished second overall; falling to Chesapeake in the Championship game 88-61.

Sophomore Frank Holloway (Waldorf, MD) and Freshman DeAndre Davis (Fredericksburg, VA) were named to the NJCAA Region XX all - tournament team. Frank Holloway was named the NJCAA Region XX Tournament MVP. The Lakers finished in first place, defeating the College of Southern Maryland 73-72 in the Championship game; with the victory the Lakers recieved a bid to the NJCAA National Championship Tournament.

NHS vs SHS State Playoff Game Friday at GC CARC


The Garrett College Community Aquatic and Recreation Complex (CARC) Gym, home of LAKER NATION, will host the Boys’ Basketball State Playoff game between the Northern High School Huskies and Southern High School Rams this Friday, Feb. 28. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. Admission is $5.

Lakers Draw CC Beaver County for First Round of NJCAA Region XX Tournament

The Garrett College Men’s Basketball team will travel to Hagerstown to face the Community College of Beaver County Saturday, March 1’st in the first round of the NJCAA Region XX Tournament; tip- off is scheduled for 4pm.

“This is the biggest game of the year for us and the best team in the region, nationally ranked CC Beaver County is in front of us.” Said Coach Gibson, “Our real opponent this year has been ourselves, we need to play with a sense of urgency and compete from the opening tip, not after we fall behind. We have the talent to win, but we are truly down to one and done. I hope the guys step up because they truly are a good group of sophomores, and with the support of our freshmen, a team that should continue their career with a national tournament appearance.”

The winner will move on to the Championship game Sunday, March 2’nd at 2pm and play the winner of College of Southern Maryland / CCBC Dundalk.

Lady Lakers Ready for NJCAA Region XX Tournament

Garrett College Women’s Basketball team set to take on the College of Southern Maryland Hawks Friday February 28, 2014 at Cecil College in the first round of the NJCAA Region XX Tournament. Tip-off is scheduled for 5pm. The winner will move on to the next round of play Saturday at 2pm.

“Our ladies have worked hard all season long to position themselves as one of the top teams in the region. Our first round game will have us playing a good College of Southern Maryland team that rosters two of the top 5 rebounders in the MD JUCO” said Coach Boggess, “our preparation for the week will be business as usual. Every team shows up to play at their highest level come tournament time.  We are excited and look forward to competing with the best of Region 20.”  

In their last meeting the Lady Lakers came out with the victory, final score was 51-34.

GC Welcomes New Athletic Trainer



Kimberly Windstein MS, LAT, ATC, PES,
is a graduate of Peters Township High School in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, PA.  She attended Lock Haven University where she received her undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training. She was a member of the Lock Haven University women’s volleyball team. She then went on to obtain a Master of Science degree in Athletic Training from California University of Pennsylvania, where she also obtained her certification as a performance enhancement specialist.
