Margaret Vielandi (Marriotsville, MD) and Amirah Burnett (Randallstown, MD) recently signed their national letter of intent to play volleyball for the Lady Lakers this upcoming season. Both Maggie and Amirah played middle hitter for CCBC Catonsville last year, and they will be playing alongside each other again at Garrett College.

"Amirah and Maggie are great additions to our team," said Coach Windstein. " They bring experience at the middle hitter position and a passion / enthusiasm for the game. I've already seen their competitive drive, and I know they are just as eager to start this season as I am. I can't wait to see wait they will do as Lady Lakers."

Ajdukovic Signs With Golden Bulls

Recently, Jana Ajdukovic (Zagreb, Croatia) signed a national letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic career at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, NC. The Golden Bulls compete in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association conference at the NCAA Division II level. Jana will also be pursuing her Bachelor's degree in visual and performing arts.

This year, for the Lady Lakers, Jana was named the team’s most outstanding player, and offensive player of the year. She was also named to the NJCAA Region XX All-Tournament Team, and selected to the second team All MDJUCO. Jana was second in the MDJUCO for hitting percentage with a .278, and digs per set with 4.59.

Jana was not only successful on the court, but in the classroom as well. She graduated with an Associate in Arts degree in Fine and performing arts. Jana was named to the honor roll, and athletic honors list. She is also nominated as an NJCAA Academic All American.

“I am very excited for Jana,” said Coach Windstein. “She shows great passion for the game, as well as outstanding volleyball knowledge. Jana will be greatly missed on our team, but we are proud of her accomplishments as a Lady Laker, and excited for her future opportunities at Johnson C. Smith University.”
