GAME HIGHLIGHTS
2008
NJCAA Region XX Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament
Results
3/02/08 Region XX Tournament
Garrett lost in the championship of the Region XX Tourney
to Chesapeake Community College 96 - 74 at Hagerstown
Community College.
Victims of cold shooting from the beginning
of the game, the Lakers fell behind 8-0, forcing an early
time out. Shawn Greenfield finally put the Lakers on
the scoreboard at 12-2 but the lead for the Chesapeake
College Skipjacks slowly grew to a 19 point margin at halftime,
49 - 30. Coach Dennis Gibson was at a loss as to what
happened with his team; "To
be honest, I thought we would have a harder time beating
Hagerstown in their gym than competing in the championship
against Chesapeake with all that was at stake. It was
like an edition of fire and ice, they were on fire and we
were ice cold."
At the half, Chesapeake had shot a blistering
68% from the field as the Lakers limped in at 31%. Garrett's
leading scorer Shawn Greenfield finished with 13 points
and was selected to the All Tourney team. The lone bright
spot for the Lakers was the play of freshman Terrance
Taylor coming off the bench to lead the scoring with 14 points. 6'9
sophomore center, Glen
Izevbigie, playing in his final
game as a Laker, added 12 points and 5 rebounds. The Lakers
conclude the season with an 18 - 11 record.
02/26/08 Taylor selected to the MD
JUCO second team
Sophomore Dale Taylor has been selected to the MD
JUCO second team by the league coaches. Taylor averaged 12 ppg and
3 rbpg this season, but is best know for his long range three
point shooting ability and athletic forays to the basket. Dale
connected on 38% of his shots from outside the arc, finishing
with 58 on the season. Coach Gibson was pleased that
Dale’s efforts had been recognized, “Dale is a
gifted athlete and our fans loved to see his highlight dunks. It
is a high honor to be voted to the MD JUCO team by the
MD JUCO coaches, I felt that this may have been one of
the deepest levels of talent I have ever seen in the MD
JUCO.”
2/22/08
Division 1 Region XX Tourney
The Garrett College Lakers head into the Division 1 Region
XX tourney this Saturday as the #3 seed. The Lakers
will face the #2 seed and the home team and tournament hosts,
Hagerstown CC at 7:00 PM. #1 seed Chesapeake will
await the winner of #4 Potomac State College and #5 Allegany
College and play at 5:00 PM.
The Hawks won the regular season meeting played at Garrett
81 – 67, but head coach Dennis Gibson is confident his
team can handle the adversity of playing the home team in
the opening round; “ For some reason we have been
better on the road then at home this season. We have
the ability to beat anyone in this tourney, but for us to
do that, we have to play a consistent game. Hagerstown
has more scoring firepower than we do; more post player size
and depth, so we have to offset that with taking care of the
ball and controlling the offensive tempo. I really thought
we were in a position to win the game here, but we went on
a five minute drought were we could not make an open shot.
Our biggest problem right now is that we will not have played
a game for almost two weeks, and that is always hard to figure
into your game plan. We cannot start out cold or “rusty”,
we have to be prepared from the opening tip.”
The Lakers are led in scoring by freshman Shawn
Greenfield at 15 ppg. Greenfield also leads the team in steals
with 1.8 per game; assists 3.2 per game, and has connected
on 64 three pointers. Sophomore shooting guard Dale
Taylor is the team’s second leading scorer at 11.4 ppg
and has made 60 or 155 three pointers. Taylor was just accorded
second team all MD JUCO honors. “ Dale has really
improved throughout this season and he deserves to be recognized
with some of the best players in this league. Overall
this is one of the deepest classes of players I have seen
in the MD JUCO for some time. Any of the teams were good enough
to beat anyone on a given night. A lot of good players
have been left off of the MD JUCO team this year not by choice,
but because of the depth of the league. Shawn
Greenfield is a perfect example of that,” noted Coach Gibson.
6’9 sophomore Glen
Izevbigie is the Lakers leading
rebounder with 6.5 per game and adds 9.5 ppg. Two freshmen
come off the bench to add scoring. Reco
Siler contributes
8.3 ppg and leads the team in free throws attempted, making
67 of 98 in 27 games. 6’4 power forward Terrance
Taylor is finishing the season very strongly, scoring double
figures in his last three games while posting a season
average of 7.4 points per game and 4.3 rebounds per game.
2/13/08 Lakers vs. Montgomery Germantown
As
the third game in four days for the Garrett Lakers, Montgomery
Germantown combined a high energy pressure defense and timely
free throws down the stretch to defeat the Lakers in Germantown,
MD 73 – 63. Germantown’s defense held the
Laker’s leading scorer, Shawn
Greenfield to just 8 points,
his lowest output of the season. The Lakers were in the
game, down 4 with just under 4 minutes to play, but Myron
McGowan
was fouled and missed both free throws. The Lakers got
another defensive stop, but this time McGowan only connected
on one of two free throws and Germantown pushed the lead back
to 8 with fewer than two minutes to play. “When
you have tired legs, you have trouble putting offensive and
defensive series together and that is how we played all night. They
did a good job of hounding Greenfield and I think he hit the
freshman “wall” a little bit, but I know he will
bounce back,” noted Laker head coach Dennis Gibson. Gibson
went on to note some positives of the game despite the loss; “Terrance
Taylor and CJ Glen are showing steady improvement as has McGowan
with his defense. They just have to show they can stay consistent
from game to game, even play by play. If they can do that
and our sophomores remain health, we can make a strong showing
in the MD JUCO and Region XX tourneys.” Freshman
power forward Terrance Taylor finished the night with 15 points
and 6 rebounds and sophomore Dale
Taylor added 13 points. CJ
Glen chipped in with 7 points and 3 assists. The Lakers
finish the regular season 17 – 9 and 10 – 7 in MD
JUCO conference play.
2/11/08
Lakers vs. Cecil Community College
Despite being down 14 points at intermission,
the Garrett Lakers battled the undefeated Cecil Hawks down
to the wire, losing 86 - 73 at the "Cube". Reco
Siler came off the bench to rally the Lakers with a tremendous
defensive effort including 4 steals as well as scoring
11 of his 15 points in the second half. Sophomore Dale
Taylor connected on 4 three pointers,
leading the team in the scoring column with 16 points. Shawn
Greenfield finished with 14 points,
4 assists and 7 rebounds. 6'9 Glen
Izevbigie scored double
figures for the third straight game with 11 points and
4 rebounds.
Coach Gibson was pleased with his team's effort, "We
are playing better each game and I am hoping that we are
peaking at the right time. Reco wasn't
starting but we brought him off the bench because he gives
us such a high energy lift.
Glen is playing
the best he has all year and Shawn, Dale,
and Joe have
been consistent. We just need the rest of the team to keep
improving and help fill their roles. We could have easily
won against any of the teams in our league ahead of us
in the MD JUCO standings, including Chesapeake, Hagerstown
and Cecil. This is a tough league and you cannot have unforced
turnovers and scoring lapses in your rotation or you are
going to get beat. That has happened to us in the past,
but I see us steadily improving."
The Lakers finish
their MD JUCO schedule at Germantown on Wednesday at 7:00.
The overall record is 16 - 8 and 10 - 6 in the MD JUCO.
2/9/08
Lakers vs. Baltimore City Community College
Garrett defeated Baltimore City CC in Baltimore
on Saturday 72 - 64. The Lakers were led in scoring by 6'9
sophomore center Glen Izevbigie with 16 points and 7 rebounds.
Three other players added double figure scoring with Shawn
Greenfield and Joe Tressler 12 each and Dale
Taylor 11 points.
The win improves the Lakers to 16 - 7 overall and 10 - 5 in
the MD JUCO.
2/7/08 Lakers vs. Hagerstown Community College
Garrett dropped a tough decision to Hagerstown 81 - 67 last night. 6'9 sophomore Glen Izevbigie led the Lakers with a season high 17 points and freshman post Terrance Taylor returned to form with 14 points and a strong showing against the Hawks big front line.
Up by one at intermission 40 - 39, on a three pointer by Shawn Greenfield, the Lakers came out of the locker room with little intensity and saw the Hawks go on a 9 - 0 run, gaining a lead they never relinquished in the second half. The Lakers managed to cut it to four with 8 minutes to play, but back to back turnovers cut the momentum swing short.
Laker coach Dennis Gibson was disappointed with his teams' turnovers, but saw many positives as well, " I try to emphasize to our team that every possession counts and that we have to show maturity in how we handle adversity if we fall behind. We depend so much on momentum, if we get hot shooting outside everything changes for us. Our inside play was great tonight, we played strong and aggressive. Our defense was good for most of the game, but we allowed Hagerstown to get comfortable in their offense in the second half, and they are too good offensively to do that. That is the first time in the last 12 games that anyone has scored in the 80's on us".
He went on to add, "We have three important league games coming up, so we can still win a home court MD JUCO first round game, we just have to get on a roll offensively. The season is really all about preparation for the playoffs."
Greenfield added 15 points. The Lakers fall to 15 - 7 overall and 9 - 5 in the MD JUCO.
2/2/08 Lakers vs. Mongomery Rockville
Garrett won another nail biter yesterday afternoon at the Cube in
overtime 83 - 81. The victim this time was the Montgomery Rockville
Knights. The Lakers led by as much as 14 in the second half but
Rockville would not go away, methodically running their offense and
finding Brian Baisa for three pointers and a game high 31 points. With
starters Joe Tressler and JT Lewis out with injuries, 6'6 Laker freshman
Myron McGowan earned a start and kept the Lakers ahead early connecting
on 4 three pointers and a season high 16 points. But the story of the
game came down to the hustling play of Reco Siler and his season high of
17 points and Shawn Greenfield with 22 points to lead the Laker attack.
Both players hit big shots in the second half to keep the Knights at
bay, and Greenfield canned a driving shot in the lane to tie it 70-70
after Rockville's Baisa hit a three to put them up by two with 10
seconds remaining. Greenfield missed his first shot of the overtime, but
scored 5 points in OT and threw and alley oop pass to Dale Taylor for a
monster dunk and a foul to keep the Lakers in the lead throughout the
OT. CJ Glen also had his first start of the season and did a credible
job running the offense and helping the Lakers handle the press. He
added 7 points. Coach Gibson hopes the close games will help his young
team learn how to win in a playoff atmosphere, " We had a great crowd
here last night and I would have hated to see our team disappoint them
two nights in a row. We did not play hard enough to beat Chesapeake but
tonight our guards stepped up. It was nice to get Taylor back in the
game after his injury layoff, and he made some great plays, but we need
his athleticism to play the upcoming teams. This team could be really
good if we could just find a way to mature in how we handle a lead and
when to take a chance on defense or take an open shot and when to hold
it and run the offense. I am really proud of the way all of them
responded in this game." The Lakers improve to 15 - 6 overall and 9 - 5
in the MD JUCO.
1/30/08 Lakers vs. Chesapeake
Community College
Up 36 - 31
at the intermission, the Lakers shooting went cold in the
second half, losing to D-1 rival Chesapeake Community College
78 - 69 last night at the Cube.
"This was a
huge game for us at this point of the season," noted
Laker coach Dennis Gibson, "Not only was it a Division
1 game and we are fighting for a top three spot in the regional
playoffs, but it was a MD JUCO game, and we are also battling
for a first round home game in the MD JUCO tournament. We
have 5 games left in the MD JUCO, but they are all teams above
us in the standings. We need to win these home games."
The
Lakers could not find any scoring consistency against Chesapeake's
zone defense, only hitting on 6 threes for the evening. "We
did not get to the foul line, which with our size we should
have been able to do. 7 for 11 will not get it done
when the opponent shoots 18 - 27 at our place. Problem
is they gave our good shooters plenty of chances and we did
not capitalize". Glen
Izevbigie led the Lakers
with 14 points but was 0 - 3 at the line. Shawn
Greenfield was held to 13 points. CJ
Glen added 12 points,
ten in the first half, and Myron
McGowan connected on 3
threes for nine points in the second half.
For the season the
Lakers are 14 - 6 and 8 - 4 in the MD JUCO.
1/26/08 Lakers vs. College of
Southern Maryland
Shawn Greenfield scored 20 points to lead the Lakers over
College of Southern Maryland last night at the “Cube”. The
Lakers were red hot from the field in the first half, building
a 45 – 19 lead at intermission. College of SMD
rallied in the second half, but could get no closer than 10
points and the final score of 77 – 67. Reco
Siler scored 11 of his 15 points in the first half and Glen
Izevbigie added 10 points and 6 rebounds. The Lakers move to 14 – 5
on the season and 8 – 3 in the MD JUCO.
1/23/08 Lakers vs. Montgomery/Takoma Park
Glen Izevbigie and Myron
McGowan provided a big second half lift to help finish
off a talented Takoma Park team last night at the Cube 75 - 68. Leading
33 - 30 at the intermission, center Izevbigie pulled the Lakers ahead early
in the second stanza scoring 9 points in the opening ten minutes. Takoma would
not fold and managed a 57 - 57 tie with 4 minutes remaining. McGowan contributed to the outside punch by hitting all of his 11 points in the last
eight minutes of the game. The 6'6 swingman put the Lakers up by 7 with
45 seconds to play with his second three of the night. But Josh Inadago
hit his only three of the evening for Takoma to keep it within four. Garrett
pushed the ball and with 24 seconds remaining McGowan drained another three
to make the lead seven and seal the win. Izevbigie finished with a double
double; 13 points and 10 boards. Shawn
Greenfield led the Lakers in scoring
with 17. Reco Siler added 9 points.
1/19/08 Catonsville
Community College
Down 28 - 18 at half time, the Lakers rallied behind
freshmen Shawn Greenfield and JT
Lewis to win in double
OT at Garrett Cube, 76 - 68. Greenfield scored 28 points,
13 coming in the overtimes to lead all players in scoring. The
6'4 Lewis came of the bench scoring a season
high 18 points and also led the Lakers in three categories
with 8 rebounds, 4 steals and 4 assists. The win
improves the Lakers record to 12 - 5 overall and 5 - 3
in the MD JUCO.
1/16/08 Lakers vs. Prince Georges Community College
Redshirt sophomore guard Reco
Siler tried to rally his team with great
defensive play and tremendous hustle, but the Garrett Lakers dropped a
tough decision to Prince Georges CC in Largo, MD, 70 - 54. Leading
scorer Shawn Greenfield was saddled with two quick fouls and the team
was never able to solve the PG zone. Greenfield finished with 13 points
to lead in the scoring column, but failed to get to the free throw line
with any consistency. Out goaled by only one field goal, 24 to 23, the
team was a dismal 1 for 8 from the line while the Owls were 14 of 23
which proved to be the difference in the game.
The Lakers fall to 11 - 5 overall and 4 - 3 in MD JUCO conference play.
1.12.08 Lakers vs. Allegany College
Garrett won its second straight road game defeating Allegany College in overtime 67 – 65. The Lakers held an 8 point half time lead, 34 – 26, but AC started the second half with outstanding intensity, pounding the boards and the smaller Lakers inside with leading scorers Calvin Lee, 24 points, and George DeGroat; 18 points, and cut the lead to one. The Trojans tied the score with 5 minutes remaining; going on to build a 5 point lead. But the Lakers responded, turning up the defensive pressure, and put the lead back to three 56 – 53, on a floating baseline shot by leading scorer Shawn Greenfield. Another defensive stop gave the Lakers the ball with 14 .6 on the clock. AC applied a full court press and guard Terrance Green stole the ball and was fouled on the lay – in, adding the free throw to tie the score for his only points of the game. The Lakers again turned the ball over against the press, but managed to steal the ball back as time on the clock was running out to preserve the tie at the end of regulation, 56 – 56.
The Lakers had to win the game at the foul line in overtime, hitting seven of ten at the charity stripe and limiting AC to no attempts in overtime. JT Lewis only scored one point which came in overtime, came up with two huge steals in OT and a charge in the last seconds to keep the Lakers in the lead. Mark Smith, Reco Siler and Terrance Taylor all hit free throws during OT to keep AC at bay. Greenfield and Taylor hit the only baskets of the overtime for Garrett for a final score of 67. Greenfield finished with 17 points, 4 assists and 3 steals. 6’9 center Glen Izevbigie had his best game of the year adding 15 points, 6 boards and took two charges.
Garrett is now 11 – 4, 4 – 2 in the MD JUCO. Essex dropped their program, so we all have to drop that win or loss from our MD JUCO record only.
1.10.08 Lakers vs. Frederick Community
College
Garrett defeated Anne Arundel in Arnold, MD 72 - 50. All ten players for the Lakers scored, led by 6'6 freshman Myron McGowan's 11 points.
Shawn Greenfield scored 9 points, 3 assists and two steals. JT Lewis led the team with 9 rebounds and Glen Izevbigie added 8. The Lakers are
10 - 4 overall and 3 - 2 in the MD JUCO conference.
1.5.08 Lakers vs. Frederick Community
College
Garrett lost a tough fought contest at Frederick CC last
night 77 – 68. Dale
Taylor scored 13 and Shawn
Greenfield 12, but the Lakers never found their
shooting stroke with any consistency. Down 6 with two
minutes to go, the Lakers missed numerous opportunities
to gain control of the game, forcing Frederick into
turnovers with full court pressure. Poor free throw shooting
(14 of 24) did not help the Laker’s in their comeback
attempt. The
season record falls to 9 – 4 overall and 3 – 2
in the MD JUCO.
12.15.07 Railey Realty Hoopfest
Garrett won 86 - 63 over WV Wesleyan JV. Mark Smith came
off the bench to score 13 points and 8 rebounds. Sophomore Dale Taylor added
3 threes and 13 points. Glen Izevbigie led with 9 rebounds and also 9 points.
Sunday's games were cancelled due to inclement weather conditions. At
the semester break the Lakers record is 9 - 3 overall and 3 - 1 in the
MD JUCO. Garrett returns for their first game in 2008 at Frederick CC
on Jan. 5, the beginning of four straight road games.
12.07.07 Lakers vs. CCBC Dundalk
Sophomore shooting guard Dale Taylor scored 23 points to lead Garrett to
an 82 - 75 win at CCBC Dundalk. The first nine points of the game for
Garrett were scored by Taylor, coming on three long range bombs. The
Lakers hung tough down the stretch and showed they are maturing as a
team, hitting 8 or 9 free throws in the final two minutes to seal the
win. JT Lewi, Reco Siler, Shawn Greenfield and Dale Taylor each canned
two free throws in the closing minutes. Lewis led the team in
rebounding with 8, and Greenfield finished with 11 points and 6 assists.
" The free throws to win on the road are hugely important to any teams
hopes of playoff contention, but I was really impressed with our bench", noted Coach Gibson. "CJ Glen did a great job of running the point
and Siler was very strong defensively. Terrance Taylor and Mark Smith did a nice job on the boards and scoring inside. Myron McGowan is also
starting to play within the system and gave us a boost with his scoring.
We have great depth and that is necessary for the future of this team."
McGowan finished with 13 points. The Lakers record stands at 8 - 3
overall and 3 - 1 in MD JUCO league play.
12.04.07 Lakers vs. CCBC Essex
The Garrett Lakers could not build on a 13 point second half lead, but managed
to hold on for a 71 – 70 win at CCBC – Essex Campus. Shawn
Greenfield came up big, hitting shots down the stretch to keep his team
on top. Dale Taylor connected on
a rare 4 point play, hitting a 3 and free throw during the last minutes, helping
to offset a 39 point effort by Essex’s
Brandon Hamilton. Greenfield led the Lakers with 21 and Taylor added
19. Joe Tressler played well adding
10 points. The Lakers improved
their overall record to 7 – 3 and 2 – 1 in the MD JUCO.
12.01.07 Lakers vs. Howard Community College
JT Lewis leads
Lakers to comeback win over Howard CC 76 - 70. In the most
emotional game of the season, freshman JT Lewis scored
all of his 11 points in the second half to help the Lakers
overcome a 37 - 28 half time deficit in the inaugural
David K. Martin Memorial game. Totally outplayed by the more aggressive
Howard Express in the opening half, the Lakers turned
up the defense and the running game after half time, leading
to numerous lay-ups, dunks and free throws. "I
know it was a tough way to start for our team, you could
see we were emotionally stunned after the tremendous tribute
to coach Martin arranged by Paul Mullan, our radio broadcaster," noted
Coach Gibson, "I could not be more proud of how they
responded in the second half; you could see the players
had no intention of letting this game slip away as we have
in our three previous losses. JT and Glen both had great
second halves. We went to the free throw line just 4 times
in the first half, but finished the game 22 for 34 from
the free throw line. That is a real indicator of our aggressive
play."
Shawn Greenfield and Myron
McGowan led the scoring with
12 points apiece. Lewis added a season high 15 rebounds
and Izevbigie 9 boards and 11 points. The Lakers improved
their record to 6 - 3 and 1 - 1 in conference play.
11.28.07 Lakers
vs. Harford Community College
Garrett loses first league game to
Harford CC.
Garrett blew a 13 point second half lead, losing to Harford
CC, 88 - 81 at Garrett.
Shawn Greenfield again led the scoring, with 17 points.
Dale Taylor hit 4 threes and finished with a total of 16
points. Reco Siler added 12 and Terrance
Taylor 11, but
it was not enough to offset the numerous turnovers by the
Laker freshmen.
"We could have easily won this game, but games are not
always won or lost in the last minute, you have to have the
mentality to play consistent for 40 minutes," stated
Laker coach Dennis Gibson. "We have a lot of freshmen
that will get better and learn how to win these games,
the potential is there."
11.27.07 Lakers vs. Westmoreland County CC
The Garrett Lakers returned from a week layoff to
win 76 - 62 over Westmoreland County CC, pushing their
record to 5 - 2. Shawn
Greenfield led the Lakers with 15
points, 11 of which came in the second half. Dale
Taylor added 14, including 4 three pointers. Freshmen JT
Lewis scored 8 points, but included 4 assists, 2 steals and
6 boards.
11.19.07 Lakers vs. Pitt Titusville
After two disappointing
losses at home, the Lakers put on a defensive clinic, holding
Pitt Titusville to just 6 points in the first ten minutes
of the game, going on to win 85 – 66. Shawn
Greenfield led the Laker scoring with 14 points. Dale
Taylor added
three trifectas and a free throw for 10 points and Glen
Izevbigie hit double figures with 11 points.
11.16.07 Lakers vs. Potomac
State - McDonalds “ I’m
Lovin’ It “ Classic
Garrett
suffered its second loss in a row, losing to Potomac
State 88 – 78, a team they had already beaten
at Potomac State. Despite outgoaling the Catamounts
32 – 26 from the field, the Lakers gave the game
away from the free throw line, making just 7 of 17. Potomac
State held off a late Garrett rally with deadly free
throw shooting, hitting 30 of 39 from the charity
stripe.
11.15.07 Laskers vs. Mercyhurst
Junior College - McDonalds “ I’m
Lovin’ It “ Classic
In
the opening game of the McDonalds “ I’m
Lovin’ It “ Classic, Garrett fell to Mercyhurst
Junior College, PA 77 – 73. The young Lakers
struggled the entire evening with turnovers and poor
defensive rebounding, but still pulled ahead with just
two minutes to go. Mercyhurst would not be denied,
hitting free throws and a clutch three pointer to regain
the lead and hold the Lakers at bay. Shawn
Greenfield was the leading scorer with 15 points. Freshman
Terrance Taylor played a strong inside game, adding
13 points and 6 rebounds.
11.13.07 Lakers vs. Butler
The Garrett Lakers pushed their record to 3-0, winning
a third straight game on the road 89 - 51 at Butler CC.
Freshman point guard Shawn
Greenfield set the pace, scoring 11 of his 14
points in the first half, helping build a 20 point lead
just 10 minutes into the game. Butler got no closer as the
Lakers turned up the defensive pressure in the beginning
of the second half, only allowing the Pioneers three points
in seven minutes of play. Freshman Mark
Smith came off the bench for a career high 14
points and 7 rebounds. Dale
Taylor and Terrance
Taylor also reached double
figures with 11 and 10 points respectively.
11.04.07 Lakers vs. Potomac State -
Coldwell Banker Classic Tournament
Garrett College wins
the Coldwell Banker Classic Tournament
Ahead 4 at the half 34 – 30, Garrett fell behind early in the second half
by 9 points to home standing Potomac State 36 – 45 as the Catamounts turned
up their running game. The Lakers stormed back on Dale
Taylor’s 20
second half points including 5 three pointers. Taylor scored 13 straight
points for the Lakers to give them the tie and Myron
McGowan drained a three
from the left wing for a lead they never relinquished. Shawn
Greenfield hit 4 treys and a free throw for 13 and freshman Myron
McGowan added 13 points
and 2 threes also. Terrance Taylor again was a force to be reckoned with
as he, Gabe Legget and JT Lewis turned in a great defensive effort in the run
and controlled the boards. Taylor led with 9 rebounds and added 3 assists.
Garrett 2 - 0
11.03.07 Lakers vs. Lackawanna - Coldwell
Banker Classic Tournament
Garrett defeated Lackawanna, PA 48 - 46, in the first round
of the Coldwell Banker Tourney hosted by Potomac State. Freshmen
led the way, as
Reco Siler came off the bench to score 14
pts and add 5 rbs and 3 steals.
Terrance
Taylor added 11 off the bench and freshman
Shawn
Greenfield scored 9 and
5 assists. Lackawanna
was preseason #12 in D-2. Garrett faces host Potomac State at 4 pm. Potomac
defeated Harford, MD 103 - 85.
