The Garrett College Men’s Basketball team defeated the Cecil College Seahawks last night at home 82-66. Freshman, point guard, Rze Culbreath turned in one of his most complete performances of the season with a double -double of 19 points and 10 rebounds; He also added 6 assists and 4 steals. Freshman, Nemo Trexler rebounded against the much bigger and more athletic Cecil squad and was also able to get to the basket with 20 points and 6 boards.  Sophomore, DeAndre Davis did not have his usual rebounding stats but he kept the ball alive on missed shots and the guards were able to haul in the caroms.  He scored 19.  Chris Scarlett scored 11 in the first half for his total, but also came up with 5 boards and added 5 assists.  De Shae Lee added 10 points and 4 assists using his speed to outrun the taller Cecil team. Coach Gibson did not think his team played as well as they should have, but was pleased with the win, “ We are not moving the ball and playing with much energy right now and that is frustrating.  With Sebastien injured, we do not have as much enthusiasm as we have had.  If we want to win a Region Championship, we will have to come together as a unit, the D-2 Region is as deep and strong as I have seen it.  Cecil was dominating on the boards with 25 offensive rebounds. I’m not sure we have ever given up that many offensive boards to any team. They were short - handed tonight, but at full strength they will be a real force.”
