Lakers Advance to NJCAA Region XX Championship

The Garrett College Men's Basketball team defeated  #2 ranked Beaver County to advance to the NJCAA Region XX Championship. Final score was 76-73. The Lakers will play the College of Southern Maryland Hawks, tomorrow at Hagerstown CC. Tip -off is scheduled for 2pm. Good Luck Lakers!

Men's Basketball to Host First Round of MD JUCO Tournament

The Garrett Lakers will take on CCBC Catonsville Tuesday February 11’th at home in the first round of the Maryland JUCO Tournament. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30pm. Come out and support your Lakers.

Conference Leaders Claim Monthly Conference Honors

BEL AIR, Md. – A pair of league leaders were selected as the MD JUCO Student-Athlete of the Month for the month December. Garrett’s Frank Holloway and CCBC Dundalk’s Trana Ford both earned the honor for the first time in their careers.

Holloway took over the MD JUCO scoring lead during the month after averaging 25.3 points per game in four contests. The forward netted 27 points in a conference road win at Howard and 28 in a road loss to Southern Maryland. Holloway helped the Lakers climb the conference standings with a 3-1 mark in the month, all against conference teams. He currently leads the conference in scoring with 22.7 ppg.

Ford is the MD JUCO leader in rebounding with a 13.6 clip for the third-place Lions. She pulled in five double-doubles in the six-game month for CCBC Dundalk, helping the Lions to a 5-1 mark in December, including a 3-0 record against MD JUCO teams. She recorded a 21-point, 16-rebound effort in a win over Allegany and followed that up with a 15-point 22-board contest at Anne Arundel.
