Women's Basketball

About the Program

My name is Coach Roy “Bogie” Boggess and I am the Head Women’s Coach at Garrett College in McHenry MD. For the last 10 years, I have specialized in basketball player development. My teaching methods and techniques have been sought after by coaches and players all over the country. I have trained professional athletes, as well as numerous DI, DII, DII, and JUCO college athletes. My network throughout the world enables me to provide players with the opportunities to move on to the highest levels.

In my first season as the Head Women’s Basketball Coach I helped to lead the Lady Lakers to a 20-9 record and NJCAA Region XX Runner-up title. My coaching philosophy is to teach the game of basketball to coachable, tough and determined women that give 110% effort daily in everything they do. My coaching style has been influenced by observing how girls have reacted to various other coaching styles. I am a firm believer that successful women’s basketball coaches will develop strong hard working players through positive reinforcement, consistent teaching, calm and collected thinking, as well as, never tearing them down. In short, when creating self-esteem and challenging players to be the best in everything they do, good things tend to happen.

I am confident that you will leave Garrett College as a better player than you ever could have imagined. If you want to reach your full potential then Garrett College is the place for you. Please join in the sensation that is Laker Nation!
