Lady Lakers Pound the Pioneers

Saturday, November 10th the Garrett College Women’s Basketball team faced Butler County Community College (PA) in the Railey Realty Hoopfest. The Lady Lakers had 5 players score in double figures, 2 putting up double-doubles. Leading all scorers was Rodrina Thorpe-Sheppard with 27 points and 10 assists along with 5 rebounds and 6 steals. Terra McKenzie led all rebounders with 20 points and 22 rebounds along with 2 steals and 4 assists. Janice Bartley contributed 21 points and 6 assists as well as 3 steals and 2 rebounds. Shameena Johnson scored 11, Victoria Bonette 10, Hannah Hill and Kailyn Woods both scored 6.

Lady Lakers Win Home Opener

Friday, November 9th the Garrett College Lady Lakers played their 1st game in history their brand new gymnasium and came out recording a 61-44 point win over Potomac State. Garrett was led by freshman Rodrina Thorpe-Sheppard recording a double-double with 15 points & 10 rebounds as well as 5 steals and 3 assists. Sophomore transfer Shameena Johnson also had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore transfer Janice Bartley also added 14 points, 4 steals and 5 assists. Returner Terra Mckenzie also had 8, Kailyn Woods with 5, Hannah Hill with 4, and Victoria Bonette with 3.

Lady Lakers Sign Bonette

Garrett College women’s basketball coach Aundrea McCormick announced Victoria Bonette, a 5’9” forward from Woodbridge Senior High School, Woodbridge, VA, as the newest addition to the Lakers’ program.

“Victoria will be a great asset to our team and campus,” McCormick said. “She was a big part of her high school program and I’m excited for what her future holds at Garrett.”

Lady Lakers Sign Wheeler

Garrett College women's basketball coach Aundrea McCormick has announced that Sasha Wheeler has signed a letter of intent to attend school and play for the Lady Lakers, beginning with the 2012-13 school year.

Wheeler, a 5-foot-7 guard from Washington, D.C. (Friendship Collegiate Academy), averaged 7.3 ppg and helped lead her team to a 17-7 season.

Lady Lakers Gain First Win of Season

Garrett Lady Lakers softball played at home on Wednesday 04/04/12 at 3:00 against Dundalk Community College. Garrett started the first game with an outstanding showing by Ayla Fulmer who batted 5 for 7 on the day with 1 double and 4 singles. These hits helped out Pitcher Kendra Hardesty who allowed only 2 runs on 5 hits while striking out 7 with only 1 walk that lead Garrett to a 7 to 2 win over Dundalk in the first game of the double header. Also having hits on the day were Tina Johnson, Megan Stolbom, Katie Eggleston and Kelsey Swann all with 2 hits each. Garrett lost game 2 and is heading to College of Southern Maryland on Friday for a double header.
