Lady Lakers Drop Two at Patrick Henry

The Lady Laker Women's basketball team dropped two games over the weekend to Catawba Valley CC and Guilford Tech CC in the Patrick Henry CC tip-off classic. Both teams are not strangers to the NJCAA national rankings. Catawba Valley finished the 2013-2014 season ranked 11th and Guilford Tech CC is ranked preseason #12. The Lady Lakers managed to score 80 points on Catawba Valley CC but 2nd half fouls and turnovers would prove to be devastating in the 104-80 loss. The Lady Lakers would improve slightly in the turnover category against Guilford Tech CC on Sunday but sent the Titans to the free throw line 33 times. The Lady Lakers fell by 19 points; 75-56. Catawba Valley CC and Guilford Tech CC would be the first of several challenges for the Lady Lakers whose schedule consists of scrimmages vs. DII powerhouses, Glenville State College and Fairmont State University, and games against six teams who have found their way into the national rankings; including Brookdale CC, Chesapeake CC, Montgomery CC, and Pensacola State CC.

”We have a very tough schedule this year and may take some lumps early but it will only make us stronger throughout the season especially as we prepare for post-season play. I thought our ladies played tough this weekend. We have a lot that we need to do to improve but these girls play hard and our eager to learn” said Coach Bogie
