Activities
On 17 April 2006 an agreement was signed in
Tallinn, Estonia by the Maryland Secretary of State (see attached
agreement in both English and Estonian)
Starting with the end of the Cold War the Maryland
National Guard became linked with the Estonian Kaitseliit (Home
Guard). This military to military link as part of NATO’s
Partnership for Peace Program (PfP) has led to this State Partnership
Program (SPP). Eleven city partnerships and two county partnerships
already exist between Maryland and Estonia. Many educational
and cultural links have developed. In addition business links,
police links and medical links have been built over the last
few years.
