provide an overview of the application, along with tips and
techniques to use the program more effectively. Each
student will receive a desk reference with shortcuts, tips
and help as a follow-up to the course.
Microsoft Word Crash Course
This course is designed for beginning level
users of Microsoft Word. Topics to be covered include processing various
types of documents, how to edit, assemble, format, sort and save. The
student will also learn how to create graphs and tables.

Computer Skills I

This course
is designed for individuals who wish to obtain additional
skills and knowledge of basic computer operations. Topics
to be covered include: Windows operations, files,
folders, diskettes/CDs, accessing the internet, web pages

QuickBooks Beginner Level
The class will provide an introduction to the
computer program for participants with little or no experience in using the
program. Topics to be covered include creating a new QuickBooks company,
modifying the preset chart of accounts, adding information to company lists,
opening and using registers for any QuickBooks balance sheet accounts, and
reconciling a QuickBooks checking account.

QuickBooks Intermediate Level
This class is designed for the individual with
moderate experience using the program. Course topics will include tracking
credit card transactions, invoicing customers, creating sales orders, generating
customer statements, receiving payment from customers and making bank deposits. It
will also include writing QuickBooks checks and assigning
amounts to specific expense accounts, working with asset
and liability accounts in QuickBooks, entering bills into
QuickBooks accounts payable, and paying bills.

QuickBooks Advanced Level
This advanced
course is designed for the experienced QuickBooks user and will address the
more advanced features of the program. The topics will
include creating and customizing reports and graphs, exporting
QuickBooks to Microsoft excel, setting up inventory and building
finished goods with QuickBooks, tracking and paying sales
tax, understanding QuickBooks payroll features creating estimates
and doing progress invoicing, tracking time and paying non-employees
for time worked, customizing QuickBooks sales forms, and
writing letters in Microsoft Word using QuickBooks.

Managing and Maintaining Your Computer
This course
is designed for any individual who wants to learn the fundamentals of managing
and maintaining a computer. Topics to be covered include: system maintenance,
basic troubleshooting, managing files and folders, and cleaning the computer
inside and out. Upon completion of this course the student should be able to:
perform system maintenance including scan disc, disc defragmentation, and back
up; manage files and folders; evaluate error codes and decipher; demonstrate
the process of cleaning the computer inside and out; evaluate computer viruses
and implement proper techniques to eliminate them and explain the usefulness
of uninterruptible power supply and surge suppressors.

The Internet and Web Literacy
Feeling lost on the information superhighway
and confused by terms such as search engines, links, homepage, Yahoo, bookmark,
etc.? Student’s will use an internet browser to discover
how it all fits together to help find information on the
internet. Topics include finding information using search
engines; learn about shopping online, reading the newspaper
and even looking up phone numbers. Information on joining
discussion groups and the use of related on-line services
will also be provided. Prerequisite: Introduction to Computers.

A Guided Tour of Microsoft Windows Vista
Thinking
about upgrading to Microsoft’s newest operating system
or just want to find out what is new and different with Vista?
Students will learn many of the new features for organizing
and finding files, new collaboration tools such as Windows
Mail and Windows Calendar, the Internet Explorer 7 features,
and the accessibility enhancements. Identify which of the
six versions is right for you and your company and what hardware
requirements for each version you will need in order to make
the jump. Additional topics include: concepts and
environment, working with applications, customization,
and security enhancements and troubleshooting.
