Dr. Qing Yuan, Professor, Dean of Academic Affairs and previous Director of Business, Information Technology and Engineering program at Garrett College, originally from Northeast China, received her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in English before she came to the U.S. to pursue further education. Yuan attended graduate school at Ohio University majoring in film theory, earned her M.S. in Computer Science and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from East TN State University. She also received a graduate certificate in Information Assurance from Purdue University. Her experience includes over 20 years of teaching in the Computer Science and Cybersecurity field at both graduate and undergraduate levels as well as the Department Chair of Computer Science prior to her current position at Garrett College.

Richard M Lewis Assistant Professor of Computer Science and Information Technology at Garrett College.  Born and raised in Pittsburgh, he chose to settle in the Deep Creek Lake area as a young adult.  He received his undergraduate Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Master’s Degree in Applied Computer Science from Frostburg State University.  He holds current certifications in A+, Net +, and Security + along with being a certified instructor in CCNA 1 & 2.  Richard has over 13 years’ experience in the computer science teaching field.

Jill Horner is the coordinator for the TAACCCT (Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training) grant that provides additional funds for the cybersecurity degree and certificate programs at Garrett College. Jill received her Juris Doctor degree from Duquesne University School of Law in Pittsburgh, PA, and she received her Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Pittsburgh.
