Class B Training

This 6-day course will cover the essentials to obtain a Class B license including the following: pre-trip inspection, various skills in the yard, and over-the-road instruction along with a basic overview of map reading and log books. At the completion of training, the student will demonstrate at their local Department of Motor Vehicles to obtain a Class B license. To expand, the Class B license allows an individual to operate any single vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 26,001 or more pounds; with any such vehicle towing a vehicle not in excess of 10,000 pounds GVWR.

To qualify for the training, the individual must have a valid driver's license, be 18 to obtain a learners permit for a CDL intrastate license and 21 years of age for an interstate license. The license must be a full drivers license for 18 months of more, hence not a provisional license. To register for the course, the student must already possess the following paperwork: a current Department of Transportation (DOT) Physical which cannot expire during the training period, a drug screen less than sixty (60) days old, and a Class B, CDL Learner's Permit.

The training is being held at Mountaintop Truck Driving Institute located in the old county garage located at Hilltop, three miles east of Grantsville, near the intersection of U. S. Routes 40 and 219, just north of interstate 68.
