The Advising and Academic Success Center is eager to aid students who wish to transfer to a four-year institution after graduation from Garrett College in order to complete a higher level degree and maximize the number of credits that will transfer. An advisor will guide students in examining the transferability of their credits to other colleges/universities, particularly to institutions with which we maintain articulation agreements and those that offer outstanding transfer scholarships to eligible Garrett College students.

TRANSFER DAY, an event held every fall (scheduled for October 9, 2017, in Garrett College's Laker's Café, 11AM-2PM), is hosted to help transfer-minded students gather information about some of the common colleges/universities to which Garrett College students’ transfer.

TRANSFER OPPORTUNITY ALERT: Garrett College partners with Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA through the Bucknell Community College Scholars Program, to provide an amazing transfer scholarship opportunity for high achieving, low-to-moderate income Associate’s Degree seeking students. Scholarship valued over $100,000!

The TRANSFER TIMELINE checklist will aid in the transfer process, beginning in the first semester through graduation from Garrett College.. It should be your overall goal to complete a degree so that when you transfer, all of the credits you worked so hard for will be accepted by your transfer institution.

First Semester Transfer Checklist: (0 – 15 credits)

  • Work closely with your Academic and/or your Faculty Advisor to plan coursework that meets your career and transfer goals.  Use the recommended sequencing for your major (if available) as listed in the catalog to set up a two-year plan.
  • If you are unsure of your major and/or career goals, make an appointment with the Advising and Academic Success Center to do some self-assessment using KUDER and other resources.
  • As part of your self-assessment, identify things that are important for you in realizing your goals and things that by necessity limit your choices (i.e. attending a school close to home).
  • Investigate program-related clubs and activities that will allow you to gain experience and build your resume.  Consider getting involved!!
  • Explore 4-year colleges that meet your goals; identify at least 5 – 8 that may be good matches for you considering your priorities and parameters.
