SHS Graduate Earns GC Scholarship for Veterinary Studies

Alexis V. Harvey, a 2013 graduate of Southern High School, has been awarded a Garrett County Occupational Scholarship to attend Garrett College. She will pursue her studies in the Veterinary Assistant Program offered through the Continuing Education and Workforce Development (CEWD) division of GC at the Career Technology Training Center in Accident.

Harvey noted that the school-to-career program at Southern High School had clarified her decision to continue her studies in the field of veterinary technology and assistance. The Garrett College CEWD Veterinary Assistant program, which was introduced in 2013, offers a series of courses that include outpatient care, diagnostics and pharmacy, patient care and treatment, surgery, anesthesia, and emergency care.

Harvey said that upon completion of the Garrett College Veterinary Assistant program she currently plans to continue her education at Fairmont State University.
