Foundation Awards Scholarships, Accepts New Applications


















The Garrett College Foundation, which provides funding for more than 100 scholarships each year, has recently awarded scholarships and is currently accepting scholarship applications for 2014-2015.


Among the students who recently received scholarship awards are as follows: April Sisler, a resident of Oakland was awarded the Michael Vaughn Vitez Memorial Sea Cadet Scholarship II. She is pursuing an Associate in Arts degree majoring in Arts and Sciences: Social and Behavioral Science.

Andrea Dickerson who resides in Washington, D.C., was given a Garrett College Board of Trustees Scholarship. She is studying for her Associate in Arts degree majoring in Arts and Sciences in Social and Behavioral Sciences in Social Work for transfer to Frostburg State University.

Alexandria Moreno of Oakland earned a Civic Club of Oakland: Helen Baumgartner Memorial Scholarship. Moreno is pursuing her studies in nursing at Garrett College with plans to transfer to Allegany College of Maryland to complete her degree.

Samantha Gittere, an Oakland resident, was awarded an Oakland Rotary Scholarship. She is pursuing her Associate in Arts degree, majoring in Arts & Sciences: Mathematics/Science.

Forrest Spurlock of Danville, W.Va., was presented the Fred Carroll Memorial Scholarship is pursuing an Associate in Arts degree majoring in Teacher Education: Physical Education and Health-Teaching/Coaching.

Though applications for scholarships through the Garrett College Foundation may be submitted at any time priority consideration is given to those received by the Foundation prior to March 31.
