GC Students and Facilities Staff ‘Plant Together’ for Earth Day

EarthDay1Garrett College students, along with the Facilities staff, partnered together on Friday, April 21, 2017 and planted flowers for the College’s upcoming commencement ceremony. Students that participated were eligible to receive civic engagement hours for volunteering in the community. Students that volunteered represented many organizations across campus, including: Student Government Association, Peer Leadership, and the Garrett College Women’s Unity Group. On Saturday, April 22, Earth Day activities continued as student volunteers joined Halian & Associates Landscapes and Mosser Meadow for a road cleanup project on Mosser Road and Bumble Bee Road.

Pictured is Randy Murphy with Jamal James Taylor, as they work together on preparing one of the planters to display on campus. Brandon DeWitt, Tim Wotring, and Fred Holtschneider, members of the Garrett College facilities staff, also assisted with the planning and preparation of the Earth Day activities with the students at the College.
