Garrett College Laker Athletes Receive 2017 All-Region Honors

The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XX recently announced their All–Region teams for Men’s Baseball. Four Garrett College athletes are among those receiving this honor. Freshman, centerfielder, Cody Hammond (Martinsburg, W.Va.), was named to the Second Team All-Region for outfield. Hammond finished the year with a 0.914 fielding percentage, and .324 batting average. Freshmen, short stop, Doug Pollock (Monroeville, Pa.), and right fielder, Zarek Simkovich (Mars, Pa.), were named to the Honorable Mention Team. Pollock posted a 0.922 fielding percentage and .336 batting average on the season. Simkovich recorded a fielding percentage of .961 with a batting average of .372, which qualified for second on the team. Sophomore, middle infielder, Winn Allen (Plantation, Fla.), was also named to the Honorable Mention team. Winn led the Lakers with a .375 batting average, and logged a .920 fielding percentage.
