Skidmore Named as GC Academic Program Director

Garrett College Professor of Art Ron Skidmore has been appointed to a new position as Academic Program Director, according to a recent announcement made by GC Interim Dean of Instruction James Allen. “While continuing to teach art classes, Ron will be taking on responsibility for overseeing all programs in Humanities and Social Sciences. We are very pleased to have him in this role. He has been a key member of our faculty for many years and is well qualified to serve in this new capacity,” he said.

Skidmore has been teaching a variety of art classes to Garrett College students since 1982. His courses include pottery, printmaking, drawing, sculpture, and more. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Art Education from Frostburg State University, and a Master of Fine Arts degree in Printmaking from West Virginia University.

Skidmore said he is looking forward to assuming his new post as an academic director. “I know I will be taking on many new responsibilities and that it will be challenging. But I am very pleased to have the opportunity to work more closely with faculty members in the disciplines of humanities and social sciences and to be more involved in the development of those programs,” he said.
