Still Time to Register for College Goal MD for FAFSA Assistance

There is still time to register to attend College Goal Maryland to be held at Garrett College on Thursday, Feb 7, 6-9 p.m. This event is part of the nationwide “College Goal Sunday” effort designed to assist people in filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid(FAFSA). According to Cissy VanSickle, director of Financial Aid at Garrett College, this forum is open to all students and their families regardless of what college they wish to attend.

“The FAFSA is the basic tool used to qualify students for Federal and State scholarships as well as by most private colleges, universities, and other technical training programs,” VanSickle explained, adding that the state of Maryland requires a processing date of March 1st for the FAFSA.

The College Goal Maryland event will consist of two parts. First a general meeting will be held in Room 204 on the McHenry campus. During this session VanSickle will provide information on the FAFSA process. Following this meeting, individual assistance will be available in Room 301 as people actually fill out their applications on line.

Participants in College Goal Maryland may enter to win a $500 College Goal Scholarship.
