Applying for Aid

At Garrett College, we've made applying for financial aid easy. All it takes is one form -- the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA allows the Department of Education to determine how much your family can be expected to contribute to your educational expenses. When you apply for financial aid, the amount you're awarded is based on the difference between the cost of attending Garrett and this expected contribution.

  • Complete the FAFSA. You can fill out the application online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
  • Enter Garrett’s school code (010014) on your FAFSA so that we'll receive your information as soon as it is processed.
  • Submit your FAFSA as soon as possible after January 1 and by March 1st deadline for Maryland Grant money. (If you do not have a MDCAPS account sign up for one http://mdcaps.mhec.state.md.us).
You've done all you need to do!

A few weeks after submitting your FAFSA, you'll receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) from the Federal Student Aid Programs processing center that outlines your expected family contribution.

The Garrett College Financial Aid Office will send you an award notice or financial aid package based on your SAR.

The Department of Education randomly selects 1 out of 3 students for a Verification process. For further information click here.
