Accountant
GARRETT COLLEGE is seeking to fill a regular, full-time Accountant position. This position is responsible for the maintenance of accurate accounting records and the preparation of financial reports. Emphasis is placed on general ledger account review, reconciliation and analysis to ensure the availability of timely, accurate reports for internal management and external requirements. QUALIFICATIONS: Candidate must possess strong accounting and analytical skills; solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles; ability to communicate and relate well to colleagues; must be proficient in the use of Excel, Word and other specialized software; ability to function with minimal supervision; showing initiative and responsibility. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance with two (2) years of related experience.
HIRING RANGE: $$29,389 to $39,530. Position affords excellent benefit package after successful completion of ninety-day probationary period.

FACULTY OPENING - BUSINESS AND ECONOMICS
FULL-TIME, NON-TENURE TRACK (One Year Appointment)
Garrett College (GC), a small rural community college situated in the westernmost county of Maryland is seeking a full-time non-tenure track faculty in Business and Economics starting August 2009. The appointment is contractual for one (1) academic year and provides no benefits. A student-centered institution which supports learning assistance to students, GC is searching for an energetic professional to instruct business and economics courses, advise students, actively serve on College committees, provide a vision for the department, and develop distance learning courses.
Located near scenic Deep Creek Lake, 180 miles west of Baltimore and 120 miles south of Pittsburgh, GC faculty enjoy living in a four-season recreational environment.
Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Business or closely related field with the ability to teach business and economic courses. Successful college teaching experience preferred. Candidates need to be learner-centered, support writing across the curriculum, be visionary, and be familiar with the use of distance education in higher education. Security and Safety Officer
Garrett College is seeking applicants for the position of a Security and Safety Officer. Applicants must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age; possess a valid driver’s license; must have a high school diploma or GED; must have reliable transportation or means of getting to and from work, and be able to attend meetings and training seminars.
Duties of Security and Safety Officer include, but are not limited to, the following: conducting security and safety rounds, patrolling parking areas, checking all buildings on campus, checking the locking of all doors and windows; checking parking permits; maintaining coverage of sporting events ,concerts, and all of college functions. The Security and Safety Officer will be responsible for the safety and security of the students, visitors, and campus personnel. Some computer skills are desired.
This position is contractual part-time (temporary with NO benefits), with weekend, holiday and evening work requirements.

Mathematics Instructor - Part-time
Garrett College is seeking a part time mathematics instructor. We are seeking an instructor who has the ability to teach in modified accelerated developmental classes. The ideal applicant will have experience teaching Algebra I, Algebra II and Geometry. Experience working with at-risk students in an activity based classroom and using a graphing calculator is plus. We are looking to staff both day time and evening classes

This person will be responsible for proctoring tests and
helping students on a first come
first served basis. The minimum requirement for this position
is an A.A. degree or
equivalent undergraduate credit with an emphasis in mathematics.

reliable transportation.
Hourly rate: $8.50 per hour
Mathematics Mentors to
assist in a mathematics classroom for 8 hours per week. The
candidate should be talented, energetic, and dedicated. The
candidate should have
experience tutoring developmental and introductory mathematics
courses. Duties include
aiding lead instructors with teaching, supervising small
group activities, and helping to
evaluate graded assignments. The minimum requirement for
this position is a grade of B
or better in College Algebra.

Adjunct Position with Mountaintop Truck Driving
Institute
