Graduation & Commencement

To be officially confirmed as a graduate and receive a diploma, you must submit an Application for Graduation & Diploma. All students must apply for graduation, regardless of whether or not you intend to participate in the Commencement ceremony. Degrees are conferred and diplomas issued in August, December, and May; and one Commencement ceremony is held in May. Deadlines for application are as follows: July 1st for August conferral, November 1st for December conferral; and January 1st for May conferral. Potential graduates should see their advisor to initiate the application process.

Commencement 2014


Graduation Rehearsal - Friday, May 16th (Graduates report promptly to Room 931 in the CARC by 10:00 am)

Caps and gowns will be distributed. Please plan to spend at least two hours; graduates will be organized for the processional, we will perform a run through of the ceremony, and a class picture will be taken.

Garrett College Class of 2014: Please complete the Graduate Survey before coming to rehearsal.


Commencement - Saturday, May 17th (Graduates report to Room 931 in the CARC at 10:00 am)

Commencement will be held at 10:30 am in the CARC Gymnasium; no tickets are required. Light refreshments will be served following the ceremony.

Rob Michael Named Commencement Speaker

Garrett College has announced that Rob Michael will be the commencement speaker for this year’s graduation ceremonies on Saturday, May 17. A Garrett County business leader, he was a 1974 graduate of GC majoring in business administration. During his student years at GC, he was involved in many of the school's activities including the publication of the first school newspaper and the first yearbook. In addition, he served as vice-president of the student government and president of his class. Parking

Parents and guests are encouraged to travel past the CARC Gymnasium and enter the Event parking lot located immediately after the gymnasium (between the gymnasium and the residential halls).
