Mission Statement:  The Garrett College Students In Need Group (SING) is committed to student success by helping students identify and connect with available resources within the College and local communities.

Programs for Students: SING offers a number of programs to provide resources to students in need. These programs are open to all students, and students are not required to demonstrate their need to participate or receive resources.

·         School Supply Giveaway – January 27 & 28, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. – At this event, SING will be giving away journals, binders, folders, and other school supplies in the hallway by the cafeteria to help you start your semester off right.

·         Winter Clothing Giveaway – February 3 & 4 – SING will be giving away coats, jackets, sweaters, hats, gloves, scarves, and more at this event to help keep you warm through the winter months. 

·         PB&J Day – every other Wednesday, beginning February 3, 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. – SING members and volunteers from the community will be in the cafeteria making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for students in need of a quick lunch.

·         Soup Cook-off – March 30, 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. – During the Soup Cook-off, the college and community come together to see who can make the best soup and bread! Students, employees, and community members are invited to sample the soups and breads and vote for their favorite. This event takes the place of PB&J Day.

·         Food Pantry – every Thursday, beginning March 31, 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. – Students in need of food at the end of the semester can come to the SING Food Pantry to receive groceries. The Food Pantry is located in Room 807, next to the Special Events Center. For more information about receiving food from our Pantry, click here.

·       The Fifth Annual GC SING Flea Market Fundraiser - Saturday, June 25, 2016 9:00AM - 3:00PM in the Garrett College Special Events Center. It is open to the public and proceeds will benefit Garrett College Students in Need Group (SING), a volunteer group of GC faculty and staff dedicated to providing emergency assistance to our students, on-campus and off, in times of extreme need or extenuating circumstance.
 

Shopper

  • Open to the public.
  • Doors open at 9:00AM.
  • Concessions available.
  • Helps to support GC SING
       

Vendors

  • Space is limited - register NOW!
  • Venue open for set-up Friday, 5-7PM.
  • Indoor and outdoor spaces available.
  • Registration fees benefit GC SING.

Need additional assistance? Typically, food, winter clothing, and school supplies are available year-round. In an emergency, SING may be able to provide other types of assistance as well. To request assistance, complete the Student In Need Request Form and bring it to Kym Newmann or Lauren Gerald in Room 643. Forms are also available in Room 643.
