Designed for women leaders within the corporate, public sector, entrepreneurial, academic and non-profit environments, the upcoming Women's Leadership Conference aims to strengthen participants in today's world.

This event will be held on Thursday, October 24th, 2019, 8:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Garrett College in Room 111 of the Garrett Information Enterprise Center (GIEC). Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Organizers of the upcoming conference expect participants to walk away with a better understanding of the unique challenges women leaders face as they seek to make contributions and assume leadership roles.

"This is going to be a great conference that will energize and give you the resources to become better – both at work and in life," stated Jodi McClintock, director of business solutions at GC. "I am excited to have Rosie (Dr. Rosemary Versteegen) as our keynote speaker for this event."

Dr. Rosemary Versteegen, chief executive officer of the International Serum Industry Association, has been selected as this year's keynote speaker for the event. She received her bachelor's and doctorate degrees in biochemistry from Glasgow University in Scotland. Versteegen also held postdoctoral scholarships at Cambridge University in England, and the National Institute of Health (NIH) working in areas of disease research.

Following several years in NIH sponsored cancer research programs, she joined Life Technologies where she held various key roles, both technical and business oriented. In 2000, she became a founding partner of the Lifia Group, a consulting organization focused on helping life science and biotechnology companies grow through clearly enunciated, actionable strategic plans.

Since its inception of 2006, Versteegen has served as the chief executive officer of the International Serum Industry Association, a global life science not-for-profit association. The organization's mission is to establish, promote and assure compliance with uncompromised standards of excellence and ethics in the business practices of the global animal serum and animal derived products supply industry. Dr. Versteegen is a long-term member of the Garrett College Foundation Board and the chair of the Board of Directors of the Garrett County Dove Center.

There is a $49 registration fee to attend. To register, or for more information, contact Garrett College Continuing Education & Workforce Development at 301-387-3142 or email jodi.mcclintock@garrettcollege.edu.
