Applications being accepted for Leadership Garrett County

Garrett College's leadership program now entering third year

Continuing Education & Workforce Development is now accepting applications for the next class of future leaders. Developed as a cooperative partnership with Garrett College and the Garrett County Department of Economic Development, the program is now entering its third year.

Although Leadership Garrett County is open to anyone, organizers for this year's class are seeking individuals of the community and surrounding area that demonstrate potential qualities and aptitude among future leaders.

According to organizers, Leadership Garrett County is an advantageous program geared to help build the next generation of leaders in our county.

"Garrett County has been very blessed with strong leaders over many years," noted Jodi McClintock, director of this year's program. "The leadership class will help strengthen our communities by providing insight and leadership opportunities to those enrolled in the program."

The first session will begin on Thursday, September 20th. Class members will meet every third Thursday of the month, with the exception of the month of December. The program will conclude in March.

As in the past, this year's class will have the opportunity to learn from a variety of guest speakers and presenters throughout the duration of the program. In addition to leadership programming content, the class will participate in on-site visits with various businesses within the Garrett County community. Participants will gain first-hand knowledge of the many industries in the county, including education, government, manufacturing. and tourism.

The ultimate goal of the program is for graduates to emerge as more informed, connected and effective managers, leaders and citizens, and will, together with future classes, help ensure a bright future for Garrett County.

Any organization wishing to sponsor an employee, or any individual wishing to apply, or inquire about a scholarship for the program should contact Jodi McClintock at Garrett College, at 301-387-3084 or jodi.mcclintock@garrettcollege.edu.
