The Garrett College Foundation's 8th annual spring scholarship benefit was recently held at The Lodge at Wisp Resort in McHenry, Md. The fundraiser was deemed a great success, with 114 guests in attendance. One of the highlights of this year's event was the Casino Night, hosted by the Deep Creek Lake and Oakland Lions Clubs, as part of the fundraiser's theme - 'Boots and Bling'.

A total of $13,050 was raised for the Pay it Forward Textbook Scholarship. The Pay It Forward Textbook Scholarship embraces the spirit of philanthropy, providing current scholarship recipients with the opportunity to “pay it forward.”

This scholarship fund furnishes one academic year's worth of textbooks for Garrett College students selected through the application process. Upon completion of each semester, textbooks are returned and added to a lending library and leant to other students, thereby paying it forward.

An additional $3,370 was raised from 22 silent auction items, including four original paintings by the late Aza Stanton. All proceeds from the event will support scholarships for Garrett College students.
