Garrett College McHenry campus offices will be open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Offices will be closed for service from 12- 1 p.m. for lunch. Garrett County well represented at Mountain Maryland FTC Robotics Qualifying Tournament

Mountain Maryland FTC Robotics Qualifying Tournament

GEARS Inc. and Garrett College co-hosted the 2019 Mountain Maryland FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) regional qualifier robotics competition this past Saturday, January 12th at the Garrett College Community Aquatic and Recreation Complex gymnasium in McHenry. G-FORCE, a community based FIRST Tech Challenge Robotics Team, sponsored by GEARS Inc. and 4-H, served as the host team for the event. A total of 20 teams represented Maryland, Ohio, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia, to compete for one of five spots at the Maryland state competition. Among the teams participating, seven teams were from Garrett County, Md.

Representing Garrett County by competing at the event are: Team 14971 GaCo South High 2, Team 13743 GaCo North Middle 2, Team 13405 GaCo North Middle, Team 12118 GaCo North High, Team 11886 Crossroads G.E.E.Ks, Team 10452 GaCo South Middle and Team 9445 Loading.

The winning alliance match featured Team 13401 GaCo North Middle and Team 8719 Quantum Leap (Mason, Ohio). The finalist alliance was represented by Team 13405 GaCo North Middle and Team 9445 Loading.

Additional team awards were announced at the event and awarded as follows: Team 11886 Crossroads G.E.E.Ks - Control Award; Design Award – Team 9445 Loading.
