Garrett Institute for Lifelong Learning announces annual picnic

A summer social picnic will be held on August 22nd, 5-7 p.m., at the Lewis Family Pavilion in Oakland for those interested in learning more about the Garrett Institute for Lifelong Learning (GILL).

GILL is a member driven organization whose mission is to enrich lives by offering a variety of educational, cultural, and social programs geared toward adults primarily 50+ years of age, but is open to all. Current members describe GILL as, "learning just for the fun of it."

The annual picnic is an opportunity to join GILL for the 2019-2020 season. The fall 2019 schedule of programs will be available at the picnic and ideas for future program offerings are welcome. The picnic is generally attended by 40 members enjoying good food surrounded by friends. For those interested in attending, contact 301-387-3781 to register.

Administered through Continuing Education and Workforce Development at Garrett College, GILL originated as an experiment by members of the community to develop a group of like-minded people, with curious minds and a keen interest in learning for its own sake. GILL is entering a seventh season of operation and generally draws over 100 members.

For additional information on GILL membership and fall programs, contact Jean Tumbarello at Garrett College, 301-387-3781 or jean.tumbarello@garrettcollege.edu.
