GC to host Administrative Professionals Day Conference on April 24th

Garrett College Continuing Education and Workforce Development are finalizing preparations for the upcoming Administrative Professionals Day Conference on Wednesday, April 24th from 8 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. The conference will be held in Room 111 of the Garrett Information Enterprise Center (GIEC) building on the College's McHenry campus.

This one-day conference is designed exclusively for administrative support professionals, including: secretaries, administrative assistants, receptionists, and similar professional positions. The event will be enlightening and fun, while providing a network of resources in recognition of administrative support professionals.

Chuck Olsson, Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer of First United Bank & Trust, has been selected as the keynote speaker for the conference. His presentation is titled, 'Leading Your Life with Purpose'.

With over 37 years of experience in the human resources field working in the financial services industry, specifically in the community banking sector, Olsson joined First United Bank & Trust in 2014 as Chief Human Resources Officer.

He previously served as the Chief Talent Officer for Seacoast National Bank in Florida, where he led the execution of all human capital management strategies since 1992. He has broad expertise in the areas of talent management and selection, employee development and organizational leadership cultures, compensation design and reward systems.

Olsson received his B.S. degree in psychology & sociology from Jacksonville University and a M.S. degree in industrial psychology from the University of Central Florida.

With a strong passion for community service, he has served on and supported the executive committees of numerous non-profit organizations centered on child protection and early education. He has facilitated numerous leadership training and strategic planning programs for community organizations including United Way, county and city governments, economic development and chamber organizations; early childhood education, children services organizations, and county school systems.

Olsson currently works and/ or is a member of the following: Garrett County Chamber of Commerce Workforce Development, Garrett County HR Forum, Garrett Mentors and the Oakland Lions Club.
