Registration open for home care provider program to begin November 11th

Continuing Education and Workforce Development of Garrett College is now accepting applications for the home care provider program scheduled to begin in November. Classes will begin on November 11th at 9 a.m. at the Garrett College Career Technology Training Center (CTTC) located in Accident. GC's training program includes both classroom instruction and hands-on practical experience. The home care provider program is designed to be completed in two weeks, with classes held Monday through Friday. Instruction will be provided by a registered nurse.

Home care providers assist patients in their home by providing support that meets their specific personal needs. Providers assist with daily living and self-care tasks for those who are disabled, chronically ill, or cognitively impaired. This course includes both classroom and clinical instruction. Program topics include the following: CPR, home management, home care procedures, preventing infection, body mechanics, communication, and patient confidentiality.
