Semester of savings program to kick off summer classes at GC beginning June 16th

Eligible, degree-seeking students may qualify for zero-tuition

Garrett College is gearing up for the summer session with the Semester of Savings program. Eligible, degree-seeking students enrolled this summer may utilize financial aid assistance, made possible through a variety of funding sources, to get ahead on coursework while paying zero out-of-pocket tuition.

"Garrett College is focused on providing students with a supportive, cost-effective foundation on which to start their educational journey," stated Melissa Wass, GC’s director of admissions. "Whether you are a new student looking to become acquainted with college coursework or a current student opting to stay ahead, the Semester of Savings is a great opportunity for students to chip away at degree requirements while saving money."

The Semester of Savings Program applies to both current and prospective new students, who have submitted a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and are enrolled in a degree program. Incoming new students are encouraged to complete the online application for admission to Garrett College, along with the FAFSA.

The Garrett College Financial Aid Office will work with students to determine if they meet the eligibility guidelines. For questions about eligibility, contact the Financial Aid Office at 301-387-3080.

"The Financial Aid team is taking advantage of a multitude of funding sources (federal, state, and institutional) to make the Semester of Savings Program cost effective for students," stated Andrew Harvey, GC’s director of financial aid. "We are here to answer any questions regarding eligibility for this program." Summer session courses are scheduled to begin on June 16th and will be offered in an online format. A variety of courses are being offered, with a focus on courses that satisfy general education requirements (GER) at Garrett College and many other institutions.

By enrolling in a summer course, students can complete credits towards their degree, raise their grade-point-average (GPA), get ahead in their degree progress, or even graduate early.

Advising and registration is currently underway for both new and returning students for the upcoming summer session and fall semester.
