Students complete veterinary assistant training program at GC

Students enrolled in the Veterinary Assistant program at Garrett College recently completed their training. The veterinary assistant program, offered through the College’s Continuing Education & Workforce Development division, includes a 95-hour classroom section followed by a 26-hour externship.

Veterinary assistants aide in kennel care, assist both veterinary technicians and veterinarians during exams of domestic animals and provide support throughout the veterinary office. They are employed in animal shelters, animal emergency centers, and veterinary practices.

The next veterinary assistant program is scheduled to start this coming September and will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5-7:30 p.m. at the Garrett College Career Technology Training Center in Accident.
