Garrett College invites applications for a full-time Chemical/Physical SciencesFaculty positionto join its team in anew state-of-the-art STEM Center in McHenry, Maryland.This 10-month faculty position (Assistant/AssociateProfessor rank based on qualifications and experience) is responsible for the preparation, development, and presentation of classroom and laboratory material; the academic advisement of students; and participation in the academic planning process. Faculty at Garrett College carry a 15-credit/semester teaching load. Occasional evening and/or weekend hours may be required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in the Chemical/Physical Sciences from an accredited institution. Graduate course work must include a minimum of 18 credits in the chemical and physical sciences. (Additional graduate mathematics credit preferred)
  • A commitment to teaching excellence and the mission of a community college education.
  • Demonstrated teaching experience and competency in the laboratory sciences(college-level preferred).

Garrett College is seeking applicants for an Electrician. Licensing is preferred but not required.This position requires the knowledge and application of the principles of electrical wiring, motor control, installation, and troubleshooting while maintaining safety standards.

This position may be responsible for other duties, such as the general care and maintenance of the campus facilities, including electrical, mechanical, HVAC/R, plumbing, and appliances.

This position is generally Monday –Friday 6:00 am –2:00 pm.

Must possess a valid Maryland Class C-type driver's license or equivalent. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Must be able to climb, work in tight places, walk distances and work in different types of weather.

Coordinator of Transportation

Garrett College is seeking applicants for the position of Coordinator of Transportation. This full time position will work out of the Northern Outreach Center in Grantsville.

The Coordinator of Transportation is responsible for the coordination of courses and programs in the transportation industry, delivered through the Mountaintop Truck Driving Institute.

The Coordinator is responsible for:

  • Supervising adjunct instructors
  • Curriculum identification and delivery
  • Teaching responsibilities
  • Keeping abreast of laws and regulations in the transportation industry
  • Student recruitment
  • And other tasks as identified by the Assistant Director of Workforce Development & Community Education.

The Coordinator will work within the guidelines of the program to facilitate student success at all levels of instruction, including passing the Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Examination. The Coordinator is responsible for the general management of classroom, range and over-the-road instruction for MTDI and assisting with other transportation programming as required.

All applicants must have a current Class A license in order to take students over-the -road for practical experience. In addition, the Coordinator must meet, or be willing to meet, the criteria for entry level driver instructor according to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration ruling.

This position will be required to administer all areas required as an athletic trainer including but not limited to; injury care and prevention, first aid, injury rehabilitation, planning and record keeping for athletes. In addition this position will be required to assist with data tracking of athletes, assist athletic director with day to day operations, game management responsibilities at assigned games, and social media updates.

Qualifications: Master’s degree in a related field. Bachelor’s degree from a CAATE accredited program. One to three years of athletic training experience is preferred. First Aid/CPR/AED instructor preferred. Must have a Certified Athletic Trainer Certificate.

Community Aquatics & Recreation Complex(CARC) is seeking applicants for Lifeguards.

Applicants must have acurrent certificate in Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, and First Aid.

The work schedule will vary, including mornings, nights, weekends, and some holidays. The facility opens at 6am and closes at 8:30 during the weekdays, 8 am-8pm on Saturday, and 10am-6pm on Sunday. There will be physical demands of patrolling the pool deck, making water rescues, and performing CPR. Life guards are required to attend monthly In Service training. The work is indoors.

Personal protective equipment, one hip pack, and one uniform tee shirt will be provided and are required while on duty.Lifeguards are responsible for patron safety. They should be able to assess a situation and quickly respond to an emergency.

Mountaintop Truck Driving Institute of Garrett College in Grantsville, MD is seeking a motivated part-time instructor with potential to become full time employment. Instructor will provide classroom and hands-on instruction to prepare students for their commercial driver's license.
