Garrett College invites applications for a full-time Addictions Counseling Faculty and Program Director position. This 12-month faculty/director position (rank is negotiable based on qualifications and experience) is responsible for the preparation, development, and presentation of classroom material; the academic advisement of students; and participation in the academic planning process.

Faculty at Garrett College carry a 15-credit/semester teaching load. The faculty for this position will have a two-course (6 credits) release time for administrative duties. The program director position is responsible for providing leadership to the social and behavioral sciences department.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Addictionology, Addictions Counseling, Addictions Studies, Psychology, Counseling, or Social Work from an accredited institution. Must have significant coursework in addictions studies.
  • Be a Licensed Addictions Therapist or equivalent in the applicant’s current state and be eligible for licensure in the State of Maryland within one year from the date of hire. License-eligible candidates will also be considered.
  • A commitment to teaching excellence and the mission of a community college education.
  • Demonstrated competency in teaching in a variety of formats (e.g., face-to-face, online, hybrid)

Garrett College is located 180 miles west of Baltimore and 120 miles south of Pittsburgh. The College is within walking distance of scenic Deep Creek Lake and the Wisp Ski Resort.

C.N.C. Machining Instructor C.T.T.C. View   Download  

Garrett College has a need for two (2) part time C.N.C. Machining Instructors to teach non-credit/workforce development classes scheduled to start in September 2015.

Classes are held two evenings per week at the Career Technology Training Center in Accident, Maryland. Instruction is provided using curriculum meeting the requirements of the National Institute for Metalworking Skill, Inc. (NIMS). Haas milling and turning equipment is used for instruction.

C.N.C. Courses offered include: Job Planning, Benchwork & Layout, C.N.C Program Set Up and Operation for both milling and turning, C.N.C. Turning and Milling.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Teaching experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of ages and skill levels.
  • Work experience & personal C.N.C. machining skills to support teaching the content for courses listed above.
  • Instructors are not required to have earned NIMS credentials; however, individuals selected for the position will be asked to work towards this goal.
  • Ability to implement the NIMS curriculum to prepare students for the theory and hands-on NIMS credential testing.
  • Assist students in the use of computer based training.
  • Monitor student performance to promote completion of the training program.
  • Experience with Haas equipment is not required and training is available if needed.
  • Salary: $30 to $40 per hour based on experience.

    CEWD Adjunct Instructors at CTTC C.T.T.C. View  

    The Continuing Education and Workforce Development division of Garrett College is seeking part-time instructors to support the expanding Workforce Development courses listed below. The classes will be conducted at the Career Technology Training Center (CTTC) located in Accident, Maryland.

    Building Maintenance: Experience maintaining and completing minor repairs in multiple areas of building maintenance including exterior and interior walls, HVAC, appliances, electric/lighting and plumbing.

    Construction Technology: Skilled in the use of methods commonly used in residential construction including safety, masonry, floor/wall/roofing/stair system, basic residential electrical wiring, basic plumbing and HVAC and dry wall installation.

    Electronics: Knowledge of the overall electronics trade and experience with current and emerging technologies.

    Welding: SMAW, GMAW, FCAW equipment set-up and welding techniques. Welding symbols, print reading and math required in the welding profession.

    Pipefitting: Experience with pipe fabrication and installation in various environments.

    Instructor Skill Requirements: Certification, education and/or experience in the area of instruction. Some teaching experience preferred but not required. Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of students.

    Salary: $20 to $30 per hour based on experience and course content.

    Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Instructor C.T.T.C. View  

    Garrett College is seeking a part-time instructor for the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Program offered by the Continuing Education and Workforce Development division of the college. Classes are held at the Garrett College Career Technology Training Center in Accident Maryland.

      Required skills and certifications.
    • Registered Nurse licenses to practice nursing in Maryland or have multistate licensure privilege to practice nursing in Maryland.
    • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, at least 1 year of which was in caring for the elderly or chronically ill in the past 5 years.
    • Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience.
    • Ability to provide instruction to a diverse group of students.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • All CNA instructors must be approved by the Maryland Board of Nursing
