Garrett College invites applications for a full-time Facilities Maintenance Technician I. This position is responsible for general care and maintenance of the campus facilities. Work includes routine maintenance of facilities and equipment and special projects. As part of the Facilities Department staff, this position is also responsible for generalized safety of the campus and related College property.

The current opening is for second shift, 6 am – 2 pm, Monday through Friday.

Required: High school diploma or equivalent, and minimum 2 years’ experience in maintenance, construction, custodial, and/or safety related field. A background check, including motor vehicle records, will be conducted and must be cleared. Must possess a valid Maryland Class C-type driver's license or equivalent. Hourly wage range is $11.75-$13.88. Placement will vary based on relevant experience.

Garrett College invites applications for a full-time Coordinator of Distance Learning and Instructional Design. This position is responsible for working collaboratively with faculty and staff to promote campus-wide on-line learning initiatives and ensure quality teaching and learning experiences.

Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Instructional Design, Distance Learning, Academic Instruction, or related field. Instructional and information technology experience is preferred. Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in the coordination or management of a distance learning program, teaching in an on-line environment, curriculum development experience with on-line distance learning quality best practices and standards. (like Quality Matters.)

Initial salary placement range is $45,056 to $58,573. Placement is based on relevant experience. Outstanding benefits package is available shortly upon hire. Assistant Professor of Natural Resources and Wildlife Technology

Garrett College, a two-year learner-centered college located in a rural four-season recreational environment in western Maryland, seeks a versatile, enthusiastic, student-centered individual for a full-time Assistant Professor position in the Natural Resources and Wildlife Technology program to begin in the fall of 2021. The successful candidate will have the ability and demonstrated experience to teach a broad range of natural resources coursework in regional natural history, soil science and conservation, basic hydrology, earth sciences, environmental science, elementary chemistry and statistics, and the practical application of GIS, GPS, and related technology. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the person filling this position is expected to be actively involved in departmental and campus committees and will participate in curriculum development as well as student learning assessments.

Qualified applicants will hold a Master’s degree (or near completion) in a natural resources or related field. At least two years of full-time college teaching experience, or equivalent, is preferred, and experience in the community college/technical education environment is highly desired. Additionally, Garrett College seeks applicants who can contribute to the enrichment of the multi-cultural and learning environment of the College.

Garrett College is located 180 miles west of Baltimore and 120 miles south of Pittsburgh. The College is within walking distance of scenic Deep Creek Lake and the Wisp Ski Resort. Garrett County offers over 90,000 acres of state- and federally-owned land, making Garrett College an ideal location for natural resources instruction.

Hiring Range: $52,984 to $66,197 (10 month position) with an excellent fringe benefit package. Garrett College is seeking a part-time instructor for the Veterinary Assistant Program offered by the Continuing Education and Workforce Development division of the college. Classes are held at the Garrett College Career Technology & Training Center in Accident, MD.

Required skills and certifications.

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in the field.
  • Must be a licensed Veterinarian or Veterinary Technician.
  • Teaching experience is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to provide instruction to a diverse group of students.
  • Successful applicant must possess effective listening and communication skills, be organized and detail oriented, and have a commitment to helping students learn and succeed.
