Garrett College invites applications for a full-time Facilities Maintenance Technician I. The position is for second shift working 2 PM to 10 PM, Tuesday – Saturday.

This position is responsible for general care and maintenance of the campus facilities. Work is generally routine; however, special projects may be conducted under the direct supervision. As part of the Facilities Department staff, this position is also responsible, as necessary, for generalized safety of the campus and related College property.

Experience Required: Minimum 2 years' experience in maintenance, construction, custodial, and/or safety related field.

Pay range is $16.22 to $19.28 per hour. Outstanding benefits including health, dental, vision, and life insurance available shortly after hire. Paid time off is available after a 90-day provisional period.

  • Schedule: 1-2 evenings per week (hours vary)
  • Employment Type: Variable-hour instructional position (less than 24 hours per week)

Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated veterinary professional to serve as a part-time instructor for our Veterinary Assistant Program. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring students meet National Association of Veterinary Technicians of America (NAVTA) requirements for veterinary assistants through comprehensive, hands-on instruction. Key responsibilities include teaching critical veterinary skills, ensuring students complete required clinical hours at various animal care facilities, and maintaining accurate student grades and evaluations throughout the program.

Program Highlights

Our Veterinary Assistant Program prepares students for entry-level positions in animal care facilities. The comprehensive six-month program includes:

  • Four Core Courses: Orientation to the Veterinary Profession, Outpatient Diagnosis & Treatment, Inpatient Treatment & Care, and Clinical Experience
  • Hands-on Clinical Training: Students gain real-world experience at various veterinary facilities.
  • Flexible Learning: One to two evenings per week class schedule with clinical experiences scheduled throughout the program
  • Career Preparation: Graduates are equipped to work in veterinary practices, animal shelters, and emergency animal centers

Requirements

  • Licensed Veterinary Technician OR Licensed Veterinarian
  • Teaching experience is not required, but is certainly a plus
  • Commitment to hands-on, practical instruction and student success
  • Ability to work flexible evening hours

Are you an experienced CDL driver looking to share your knowledge and help shape the next generation of commercial drivers? Garrett College is seeking Part-Time CDL Instructors to support our Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) training program at the Mountaintop Truck Driving Institute (MTDI) in Grantsville, MD.

Position Details:

  • Schedule: 2 days per week (8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.)
  • Location: Mountaintop Truck Driving Institute (MTDI), Grantsville

Role Overview:

As a CDL Instructor, you’ll play a critical role in preparing students for entry-level careers in commercial driving. You’ll provide hands-on instruction in:

  • Pre-trip inspections
  • Yard skills and backing maneuvers
  • Over-the-road driving techniques
  • Basic logbook and map-reading skills

Program Highlights:

  • Class A Program: 210 hours over 7 ½ weeks (Monday–Thursday, 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.)
  • Class B Program: 6 days of instruction
  • Students train using Garrett College trucks and test on-site
