This position is responsible for operating all facets of the College’s food service including meal services and catering for all college functions. This position has primary responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of the kitchen and dining area. This position will oversee and train part-time workers/student workers who will support the food service operations.

2022-04-12 Visiting English Instructor Position for Fall 2022 McHenry Campus View  

Garrett College invites applications for a Visiting English Instructor (temporary) Faculty position in McHenry, MD, for the Fall 2022 semester. This temporary faculty is responsible for preparing, developing, and presenting course material; This position includes teaching 15-credits of first-year composition and introduction to literature at the McHenry campus and the Garrett County high school (dual-enrollment).

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in English, Composition, Rhetoric, or related field.
  • A commitment to teaching excellence and the mission of a community college education.
  • Demonstrated teaching experience and competency in English.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • College-level teaching.
  • Experience teaching in multiple modalities.

Garrett College is located 180 miles west of Baltimore and 120 miles south of Pittsburgh. The College is within walking distance of scenic Deep Creek Lake and the Wisp Ski Resort. 2022-02-08 Variable Hour Instructor - Mountaintop Truck Driving Institute McHenry Campus View  

Mountaintop Truck Driving Institute of Garrett College in Grantsville, MD is seeking a motivated variable hour instructor (Approximately 16 hours per week.) to provide hands-on instruction to prepare students for their commercial driver's license. Successful applicant must possess effective listening and communication skills, be organized and detail-oriented, and have a commitment to help students learn and succeed.

2021-11-18 Variable Hour Custodial Technician McHenry Campus View  

Variable Hour Custodial Technician

Garrett College is seeking applicants for a variable hour custodial technician. (24 -30 hours per week.) This position works night shift from 10 PM to 6 AM. Weekends are required. There are no benefits associated with this position other than sick and safe leave.

Duties of the custodial technician include, but are not limited to, the following: performing all tasks related to cleaning and housekeeping of the campus facilities and, as necessary, for the generalized security of the campus and related College property.

Candidates for this position should possess: some knowledge of the operation of motorized maintenance equipment and materials; the ability to read and write; ability to follow written and oral instructions; the ability to read and work from simple diagrams; the ability to get along well with others; the ability to work alone and possess a valid driver’s license. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Position requires significant climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.

2021-10-13 Lifeguards for Community Aquatics and Recreation Complex (CARC) McHenry Campus View   Download  

Community Aquatics & Recreation Complex (CARC) is seeking applicants for Lifeguards.

Applicants must have a current certificate in Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, and First Aid. Training and Certifications are available on site. The work schedule will vary, including mornings, nights, weekends, and some holidays. The facility opens at 6am and closes at 8:30 during the weekdays, 8 am-8pm on Saturday, and 10am-6pm on Sunday. There will be physical demands of patrolling the pool deck, making water rescues, and performing CPR. Life guards are required to attend monthly In Service training. The work is indoors.

Personal protective equipment, one hip pack, and one uniform tee shirt will be provided and are required while on duty. Lifeguards are responsible for patron safety. They should be able to assess a situation and quickly respond to an emergency.
