Garrett College McHenry campus offices are open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Offices will be closed for service from 12- 1 p.m. for lunch.

Veterinary Assistant Instructor

Garrett College is seeking a part-time instructor for the Veterinary Assistant Program offered by the Continuing Education and Workforce Development division of the college. Classes are held at the Garrett College Career Technology & Training Center in Accident, MD.

Required skills and certifications.

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in the field.
  • Must be a licensed Veterinarian or Veterinary Technician.
  • Teaching experience is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to provide instruction to a diverse group of students.
  • Successful applicant must possess effective listening and communication skills, be organized and detail oriented, and have a commitment to helping students learn and succeed.

Garrett College is inviting applications for the position of Dean of Academic Affairs. The Dean of Academic Affairs (DAA), serving as Chief Academic Officer (CAO), works with faculty and staff to guide strategic planning for the Division of Academic Affairs and develops programs to strengthen and support learning. The Dean ensures that the College's academic standards are monitored, evaluated, and consistently upheld. The Dean of Academic Affairs works with the Office of Analytics, Institutional Research and Assessment and other departments to monitor and sustain regional accreditation. The Dean is a member of the President's leadership team.

Garrett is a small, public, two-year College nestled in the rural mountains of Western Maryland and is approximately a two-hour drive from Pittsburgh and a three-hour drive from Washington, DC and Baltimore. The area's most popular tourist attraction is Deep Creek Lake, the largest fresh water lake in Maryland. Garrett county is also home to WISP Resort, a four-season resort with multiple ski slopes, golf courses, and outdoor activities. The college is located in an area of Maryland with a general population of around 30,000.

The College employs 22 full-time faculty, 35 part-time faculty, and approximately 85 full-time staff. Garrett College offers degree, transfer, and certificate programs that prepare students for careers and/or further study in the following areas: Addictions Counseling, Business Administration, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Electrical Engineering and Pre-Allied Health, Sport Management and Teacher Education and more.

Through the College's Continuing Education and Workforce Development division, Garrett offers non-credit career training programs leading to industry-recognized credentials in Allied Health, Construction & Building Maintenance, Manufacturing, and Transportation; business solutions, personal interest courses, and more.

Required Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree required. (Ph.D., Ed. D., J.D. etc.);
  • 3 years of college administrative experience (preferably in academic affairs);
  • 3 years of full-time teaching experience (preferably in a community college setting).

Strongly Desired Qualifications

  • Demonstrable experience in assessment activities;
  • Proven record of forging partnerships with four-year institutions;
  • History of collaborating with Student Services and Information Technology on implementation of innovative programs.

2020-10-02 Paramedic Lead Instructor: Variable-Hour McHenry Campus View   Download  

Garrett College invites applications for a variable-hour Paramedic Lead Instructor. This position is responsible for providing the majority of instruction for the Paramedic program with assistance from support instructors for skills labs. The instructor will provide a holistic approach to the cohort, offering coaching and remediation as needed to facilitate student success. This position reports to the Career Technology Training Center (CTTC) located in Accident, MD.

Qualifications: Minimum of 5 years of experience in emergency medicine / prehospital care. Teaching experience to include core knowledge, skills instruction, and remediation. Associate’s Degree required. Bachelor’s Degree is preferred. Must be a certified Maryland paramedic and a National Registered paramedic.
