Free FAFSA workshop to be held at GC on October 27th

GC's Financial Aid team to provide one-on-one assistance to students and parents attending college in the 2020-21 academic year

Are you planning to attend college in the 2020-21 academic year, as in next fall? The Financial Aid team at Garrett College is hosting a financial aid workshop on Sunday, October 27th from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. in Room 306 of the Information Technology building at the McHenry campus of the College.

This is a free event and is open to all students and parents, regardless of which college one plans to attend.

Completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, commonly referred to as the FAFSA, is the most important step in preparing for college. The FAFSA is a basic tool used to qualify students for financial aid, including federal and state scholarships, as well as aid opportunities from private colleges, universities, and other technical training programs.

The event will be held in one of GC's computer labs so that those in attendance can receive one-on-one assistance with filling out the 2020-21 FAFSA online with members of the Financial Aid Office at Garrett College.

"Don't stress over the FAFSA, stated Andrew Harvey, GC's director of financial aid. "The Garrett College Financial Aid experts are ready to help you navigate and complete this important step of the college process correctly."

Although the FAFSA officially became available to submit on October 1st, the state of Maryland continues to maintain March 1st as the priority deadline for state aid qualification and eligibility.

For additional information, including a list of forms and financial records to bring to the event, contact the Garrett College Financial Aid Office at 301-387-3080.
