Garrett College's Continuing Education & Workforce Development department is pleased to announce a recent graduate, Lisa Suter, from the Adult Basic Education program.

"I had nothing but a positive experience and would recommend Garrett's program to anyone who is interested in obtaining their GED® and furthering their education," remarked Suter, who was encouraged to obtain her GED® to better her employment options.

During her time in the program, she learned new things and was able to improve both her math and reading skills.

"My experience was excellent and met all of my expectations," stated Suter. "When searching for a program, I wanted one that offered in-person classes and materials."

Garrett College offers flexible options available to the Garrett County and surrounding area. Adult Basic Education courses, offered through the College's Continuing Education & Workforce Development division, prepare students to earn their high school diploma, improve reading and math skills, as well as, develop job readiness skills.

"With my GED® I am looking forward to furthering my education in the near future by attending college," noted Suter.

Students who pass the GED® Exams earn a Maryland High School diploma and are eligible to apply for the Garrett County Scholarship Program to continue their education. Funded by the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation (DLLR), the adult education program is available at no cost to the student – individuals are not required to pay any tuition or fees.

"It's never too late to obtain your high school diploma, even with a busy schedule," said Kaitlyn Glotfelty, GC's assistant director of professional and community education. "This program has everything you need, plus more, to get started including supportive teachers, interactive instructional materials, classes and computer labs."

Interested individuals will need to schedule an intake and assessment session. These sessions are held monthly. An intake counselor will assist you with the class registration process at the end of the session.
