Garrett College welding cohort finishes program
19 students complete 210-hour program; 96% pass AWS exam
Garrett College recently concluded its seven-month 2024-25 welding program. Garrett College recently concluded its seven-month welding program, with 19 students successfully completing the 210-hour training.
Designed to equip individuals with entry-level skills for employment in the welding industry, the program combines in-depth theoretical instruction with extensive hands-on training in a lab-based environment. Students engaged in National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) coursework and completed rigorous welding exercises aligned with industry standards.
Garrett College partnered with RNDT, Inc., a non-destructive testing facility based in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, to administer the final certification exams.
Certifications were issued by the American Welding Society (AWS), a nationally accredited organization recognized across the welding industry. Students who passed the certification exam received a pocket card, an official paper certificate, and a copy of the x-ray film from their weld test.
The cohort achieved an impressive 96 percent pass rate on the AWS certification exam.
