Students enrolled in the Medical Billing & Coding program at Garrett College recently completed their training, which began September 2021. The Medical Billing and Coding program, offered through the College’s Continuing Education & Workforce Development division, includes a 125-hour classroom lecture including medical terminology, healthcare documentation, and billing and coding components.

“This course is a wonderful resource for our community, especially with the substantial scholarship offered to offset costs to the student,” says a recent graduate. “Thank you for offering the Medical Coding class through GC CEWD. Holly is an engaging and enthusiastic instructor and Kaitlyn was always responsive and helpful.”

This cohort has completed the classroom portion and is currently scheduling their externships. During the externship, each student will work alongside certified Medical Billing & Coding staff while improving their own skills.

Upon completion of the externship, students will sit for the American Academy of Professional Coders – CPC certification exam.

The next Medical Billing & Coding Program is scheduled to start this coming September and will offered on Mondays and Thursdays from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Garrett College.
