GC recognizes phlebotomy students

Students enrolled in the phlebotomy program at Garrett College recently completed their training. Now in its seventh year, the phlebotomy program, offered through the College’s Continuing Education & Workforce Development division, includes a 69-hour classroom and lab section followed by an externship.

This cohort has completed the classroom part, and currently scheduling their externship During the externship, each student will work alongside a certified phlebotomist while improving his or her skills.

Upon completion of the externship, students are eligible to sit for the Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) exam to earn national certification through the National Healthcareer Association. This standalone phlebotomy program is taught along with the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) program.

The next phlebotomy course is scheduled to start this coming November and will be offered on the following days and times: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. at the Garrett College Career Technology Training Center in Accident.
