Dr. Jeff Reitz and Dr. John Taylor will be co-presenting the final spring installment of the Joan Crawford Lecture Series at Garrett College. Their presentation, "Life on the Autism Spectrum: a Personal Perspective" is scheduled for Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at 6 p.m. The presentation will be held in the Garrett Information Enterprise Center (Room 111) of the McHenry campus.

Their presentation will provide insight and address the following question: ‘What is it like to be on the autism spectrum, or to have a loved one who is?' Reitz and Taylor will blend subjectivity and objectivity, along with humor and pathos as they share their personal insights into the mysterious world of autism, from one end of the spectrum to the other.

Dr. Reitz serves as professor of mathematics while Dr. Taylor is the assistant professor of education at Garrett College.

In memory and in honor of the dynamic educator Joan R. Crawford, the Garrett College faculty created the Joan Crawford Lecture Series. Crawford, who died on October 5, 2010, served the College community for more than 30 years. She joined the staff of the fledgling community college in 1972 and worked in many capacities in the decades that followed, including serving as the head of the humanities division and director of enrollment. After her retirement, Crawford was named Professor Emerita.

The Joan Crawford Lecture Series of presentations are offered free of charge and the public and community members are invited to attend. All presentations from the Joan Crawford Lecture Series will be available to view online through the College's Facebook page. The lectures will be live streamed and recordings will be posted shortly after the event.
