Naylor Family Trust gifts $200K to PAC endowment
Gift to support Performing Arts Center at Garrett College operations

The Naylor Family Trust, working through the Community Trust Foundation, has made a $200,000 gift to the Performing Arts Center at Garrett College endowment campaign.
"I appreciate the Naylor Family Trust’s ongoing commitment to providing access to the performing arts in Garrett County," said Dr. Richard Midcap, Garrett College’s president. "Their long-term support of the performing arts, as well as their broader philanthropic efforts, are so important to our community."
Midcap noted that this isn’t the first gift from the Naylor Family Trust, via the Community Trust Foundation, to benefit the new performing arts center. Brothers Bart and Lon Naylor, co-chairs of the Garrett College Foundation PAC Endowment Campaign, previously donated a 17-unit keyboard lab that is being relocated to the PAC and named for their late sister, Gail Naylor Rowe.
Midcap said the PAC endowment – which is nearing its goal of raising $2.5 million to generate income for center operations – will play a key role in allowing the PAC to bring high-quality events to the center.
"One of the primary purposes behind the endowment is to generate funds to help defray programming costs," said Midcap. "This will allow the PAC to attract performers we might not otherwise be able to afford to bring to Garrett County."
"Bart and Lon are passionate about providing educational opportunities in the Appalachia region," said CTF Director Leah Shaffer. "This project is one more illustration of their commitment to the region and its citizens."
Shaffer said the CTF – the community foundation serving Allegany, Garrett and Mineral counties – makes it easy for donors to support the causes they care most about, and makes impactful grants in the areas of arts and historical preservation, health and wellness, vibrant communities and thriving environment, and education and youth leadership.
