All of our students have a unique story to tell. Many start out at Garrett College with plans to transfer to a four-year college or university. A large percentage of our students are the first in their family to attend college. Others seek to advance their career by learning a new skill.

Why did you choose Garrett College?
Answer: I wanted to go to a small school that would still be able to give me the same opportunities as a big university. I feel that Garrett is the best place to go if you are looking for a small, friendly, and diverse college.

Did COVID-19 impact your college decisions at all? If so, how?
Answer: I think the big concern with COVID-19 and college was how they were going to protect me from the virus and how they would proceed if any positive cases were to occur. I believe that Garrett is doing an excellent job at keeping students and staff safe from the virus and is taking all the proper steps if/when a positive case occurred.

How is your semester going so far?
Answer: The semester is going great. The professors are doing a great job at adjusting with the face-to-face switch class and even those classes that are operating fully online. With their confidence about how the semester is going, it makes me feel better about classes and I am not as stressed out.

What activities are you involved with on campus? How has this added to your college experience?
Answer: I am part of the volleyball and softball team at Garrett, as well as the bible study group, CRU. Being a member of any athletic team or club is very helpful while attending college. It makes your college experience easier; you don’t have to worry about how you are going to make friends because they are already there, and it gives you something to look forward to everyday.

How has attending GC worked to your advantage?
Answer: As a sophomore, I’ve found it to be more comforting for me to be able to come back to campus in challenging times. I think the advantage is that it is a familiar space and I know that everyone here is going to care about my health and do everything they can to keep me safe.

Answer: Garrett College support services, faculty and staff are always supportive. The best part about them is they are always available and ready to assist you in whatever you need.

What are your plans after GC?
Answer: My plans after I graduate form Garrett College is to transfer to Seton Hill University and obtain my bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and then complete the academic requirements for a teaching certification in computer and information technology and become a teacher for grades k-12.
