Question: Why did you choose Garrett College?
Answer: I originally planned to attend Grand Canyon University online, but my grandfather had asked me to apply to Garrett College. He believed I would achieve and learn more in a classroom, rather than answering a few questions online each week.

Question: Did COVID-19 impact your college decisions at all? If so, how?
Answer: COVID-19 was one of the reasons I chose to apply at Garrett. My family had gotten COVID at the end of November last year. My grandfather was hospitalized because of it and passed away after a week of being in the hospital. He had raised me since I was an infant so his passing was an eye opener for me - I needed to attend school like he wanted me to and become a teacher.

Question: How has attending GC worked to your advantage?
Answer: Attending Garrett has given me opportunities to learn while being stuck indoors, while also giving me the chance to attend classes in person. It is extremely helpful when now people are at the all-time high for mental health issues, it gives me a chance to socialize and feel 'normal' again.

Question: How have Garrett College support services, faculty or staff supported you?
Answer: The teachers and staff at the college are all kind and friendly, I was lucky to end up with so many amazing teachers this semester.

Question: What advice do you have for a new GC student or someone on the fence about attending college?
Answer: College isn't as scary as you were taught in high school. It's a lot more laid back if you keep up with your assignments and get along with your professors and peers well. Don't wait to go to college, it only gets harder after waiting.

Question: What are your plans after GC?
Answer: After Garrett, I plan to transfer to Frostburg State University and earn my bachelors in Secondary education. After I have my degree I plan to work at a high school and teach Algebra.
