All of our students have a unique story to tell. Many start out at Garrett College with plans to transfer to a four-year college or university. A large percentage of our students are the first in their family to attend college. Others seek to advance their career by learning a new skill.

Why did you choose Garrett College?
Answer: I chose to begin my nursing education at GC because it was close to home and I had heard great things about how well the teachers there prepare you for the actual nursing classes at Allegany College of Maryland (ACM). The information that I have learned so far from GC has challenged me, but I know that I am now well prepared for what I can accept at ACM.

What did you find most helpful about GC’s pre-nursing program?
Answer: The complex curriculum that is taught at GC in the pre-nursing program will be the most helpful thing that I have gotten to prepare me for ACM.

Answer: Getting to know new people that have the same interest in a future career that I do!

What advice do you have for a potential student or someone interested in pursuing a career in nursing?
Answer: The work that you receive is going to be tough and you are going to want to give up at times but if you push on and persevere, the outcome is totally worth all the long nights and countless hours that you use studying.
