Health and Exercise Science

Associate of Science degree

Transfer program

Garrett College’s Health and Exercise Science program provides students interested in a fitness or health science career the knowledge and skills necessary for today’s competitive market. Students gain a strong core of basic health and exercise science knowledge in subjects such as anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, resistance training and group fitness. Additional coursework in communications, writing, and speaking skills help develop students into well-rounded fitness and health professionals. Upon completion of the degree, students have the option to join the workforce in entry-level positions or transfer to a four-year college to continue their education.

Career Opportunities

Students who choose to enter the workforce with their associate degree may choose to pursue careers such as an activities coordinator, aquatics professional, or exercise technician. Garrett’s program also equips students with the knowledge and prerequisites needed to transfer to four-year institutions and earn a bachelor’s degree in a variety of areas such as exercise science, exercise physiology, exercise and sport science, or kinesiology.
