GC Athletic Alumni Weekend is September 18-19

Former Lakers invited back to Garrett College for reunion

Garrett College Athletics will welcome generations of former Lakers back to campus for the 2026 Garrett Lakers Athletic Alumni Weekend, scheduled for Friday and Saturday, September 18-19.

GC’s Athletic Department, in collaboration with a group of Laker alumni, invite all former student-athletes and coaches from Garrett Community College and Garrett College to attend a wide array of activities.

“The reunion provides an opportunity for former Lakers to reconnect with teammates, coaches and friends while celebrating the people, memories and traditions that have shaped Garrett College Athletics over the years,” said Eric Hallenbeck, GC’s administrative athletic director and head baseball coach.

Scheduled events are below.

Friday, September 18
Informal Social: This event, specifically for Garrett College athletics alumni/coaches, will take place at The Greene Turtle at 6 p.m. Light snacks will be provided and there will be a cash bar.

Saturday, September 19:
Baseball (off-campus): The Lakers will have “fall ball” games at the Allegany County Fairgrounds, 11490 Moss Avenue, Cumberland, MD 21502 at 10 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 3 p.m. against a trio of Region 20 rivals.

Men’s Basketball Intrasquad Scrimmage (Morin Family Gymnasium): The Lakers’ intra-squad scrimmage will take place at 11 a.m.

Men’s Soccer Match (First United Field): The Lakers play Penn State University-Altoona at 12 noon.

Student Development-sponsored Cookout (adjacent to First United Field): This will start when the men’s soccer game ends (approximately 2 p.m.).

Women’s Soccer (First United Field): The Lady Lakers play NCAA Division III La Roche University at 2:30 p.m.

Campus Tours (conducted by GC coaches): These will take place at 12 noon, 1 p.m., and 2 p.m.

Alumni Dinner (Morin Family Gymnasium): Several Garrett College alumni have developed an alumni dinner scheduled for 6 p.m. (The gym will open at 4:30 p.m. for alumni who wish to engage with former teammates/coaches/players.) Attendance for the dinner is limited, and an RSVP is required to attend. Deadline to register is Friday, September 11th. “Garrett College Athletics and alumni are organizing the weekend to bring together generations of former Garrett athletes and coaches, including those who competed when the institution was known as Garrett Community College,” said Elizabeth Show, GC’s operations athletic director.
