GC’s Broadwater named NJCAA All-American
Laker sophomore claims 3rd-team slot after leading GC to region finals
Garrett College sophomore shortstop Noah Broadwater has been named an NJCAA Division II third team all-American in baseball.
Garrett College sophomore Noah Broadwater has been selected for the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II baseball all-American squad, earning third-team honors.
Broadwater led NJCAA Division II Region 20 in batting average (.469) and runs batted in (school-record 88) while tying for fourth in the region with 14 homers. His stellar season helped the Lakers (33-18) reach the Region 20 title game and set a school record for wins over a two-year period (69).
Even with that kind of stat sheet, the unassuming shortstop said he wasn’t expecting the national accolades.
“I was kind of shocked, you know?” Broadwater said. “I wasn’t thinking about that at all.”
“Noah represented all of us very well this year,” said GC head coach Eric Hallenbeck, who won his 500th game with the Lakers during the 2026 season.
Broadwater capped off his JuCo career by hitting .467 with three home runs, 10 RBIs, and five runs in four Region 20 tournament games. The third-seeded Lakers eliminated both second-seeded CCBC-Essex and seventh-seeded Allegany College of Maryland to reach the Region 20 title game against eventual champion Frederick Community College.
Broadwater and teammates Hunter Dakan and Jesus Fermin were all named to the all-Region 20 Division II tournament team.
Broadwater was also Region 20 Player of the Month in April, when he slugged .759 as the Lakers went 13-7 for the month.
Broadwater earned an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Sport Management this spring, finishing with a 3.23 grade-point average.
Broadwater is the second Laker in as many seasons to be named to the NJCAA’s all-American baseball team, following Brandyn Gonzalez’s selection to the first team last spring. Broadwater credited his all-American campaign to several factors.
“I think I just tried to trust the process and trust the coaches,” said Broadwater. “Having really good teammates and having a really good time with the team also helped.”
