The hits just keep on coming for the Garrett College baseball team.

The Lakers went 25-for-51 (.490) Sunday afternoon while sweeping visiting Prince George's Community College, 14-12 and 20-7. Noah Broadwater (four runs, six RBI), Bo Green (three runs, five RBI), and JJ Charlton (five runs, two RBI) each totaled four hits during the doubleheader sweep.

"The offense is coming around sooner than what we thought," said GC head coach Eric Hallenbeck. "We knew we had talent offensively, but it's young talent. We thought it would take time – more experience and more at bats – to get the offense going. It's a good thing we had that offense – we needed those runs."

Garrett (4-1) erased three-run deficits in both games – including a 12-9, sixth-inning hole in the opener – to improve to 4-0 in the NJCAA Division II Region 20-West standings.

The Owls used a five-run explosion in the top of the sixth to build its 12-9 lead in Game 1. GC answered with five runs of its own in the bottom half of the inning as Aiden Screen delivered a run-scoring double, Charlton produced an RBI single, and Green drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.

"It was just back and forth all game," said Hallenbeck. "That's what happens when neither team throws strikes. We hit six guys and walked six guys in the opener - that's 12 free bases that we gave them."

PG's pitchers were even more generous. Five Owl pitchers combined to give up 10 walks with four hit batsmen in addition to the 12 hits generated by Garrett in the opener.

Charlton (four runs, two RBI), Ethan Earley (run, two RBI), Jordany Anderson (two RBI), and Parker Ferraro (run) each had two hits for the Lakers in the opener.

Conner Blake, the fourth of five Garrett pitchers, allowed two runs on one hit and one walk in the sixth to earn the victory in the opener. Gregory Eddy pitched a perfect seventh to claim the save.

Garrett scored 20 straight runs after the Owls had taken a 3-0 lead in Game 2. Bryce Madden, Parker Ferraro, Green, and Broadwater each homered, with Broadwater adding a triple for good measure.

Broadwater and Green each collected three hits and drove in four runs in the nightcap.

Hunter Dakan allowed three runs on three hits over four innings with five strikeouts and three walks to earn the Game 2 win. Tristan Farnworth allowed the final four Owl runs while pitching the fifth inning.

"Hunter had a rough second inning, but he kind of settled in after that," Hallenbeck said of Dakan. "He's capable of doing that every time out. If he stays consistent with his mechanics, he's pretty good."

The Lakers play their next dozen games on the road, starting with a doubleheader at Harford Community College (14-3) on Tuesday and a single game against Brunswick (NC) Community College (15-4) on Wednesday. The road trip includes six games at the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, SC.

"It's going to be tough the next couple of days," Hallenbeck said on Monday. "Harford, especially on the road, is challenging, and Brunswick was the national runner-up two years ago. We'll be able to figure some things out by the time we get back from this trip."
