Garrett College's new, integrated student services approach – with admissions, student accounts, student records, and financial aid professionals all co-located in the recently renovated 400 Building – will be highlighted as part of the "Explore Garrett" event on Saturday, April 12th. Pictured, left to right, are (back row) Admissions Counselor Kelly Gold, Accounts Payable Clerk Carolina Dodge, Payroll/Accounting Assistant Tina Swaney, Records & Registration Assistant Robin Swearengen, Senior Accountant Trisha Mayles, Assistant Director of Financial Aid Pam Warnick, Associate Dean/Registrar Kim DeGiovanni, (front row) Staff Accountant Tiffany Perez, Director of Fiscal Operations Carrie Hackett, Enrollment Services Admission & Registration Representative Amy Beeman, Financial Aid Counselor Erica Hook, and President Richard Midcap.
Garrett College is hosting an "Explore Garrett" Open House on Saturday, April 12th beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the Performing Arts Center at Garrett College.
Melissa Wass, director of admissions and recruitment, said the College is "looking forward to welcoming prospective students and parents to this year's event."
"Choosing a college is a big decision, and an on-campus visit is one of the best ways to help a student make the right choice," said Wass. "We want students and their parents to feel fully informed about the options available to them here at Garrett. I'm looking forward to sharing how we can help students achieve their academic and career goals."
Wass noted the College is nearing completion of an ambitious, seven-year program to expand and enhance its facilities. The latest project renovated the kitchen and café, as well as key student support areas, in the 400 Building.
That renovation has integrated important student-facing services – including admissions, student accounts, student records, and financial aid – in one central location in Room 414 to more seamlessly support students.
"Our students really seem excited about the renovations and how they support the overall student experience," said Wass.
"We're all conveniently located for students to access all the services they need," added Associate Dean Kim DeGiovanni. "This is the launching pad for our students' Garrett College experience."
"It's all coming together," said Director of Fiscal Operations Carrie Hackett, noting the integrated services approach launched just a couple of weeks ago.
Those attending "Explore Garrett" will learn about GC's academic and workforce training programs through conversations with faculty and administrators, receive information about available financial aid and scholarships, take a tour of the campus, and discover "the many benefits Garrett College has to offer," said Wass.
Information will be shared about the admissions process, seamless transfer agreements, athletic programs, on-campus housing, placement testing, and new student advising.
